You are right, I also think it will pass without any serious notice. I find this pretty frightening, this change is really stretching the limits of credibility, and they still buy into it. It is scary to think what could come next - if the majority doesn't have a problem with a word being used in a way that noone on Earth uses it, then they won't have a problem when something even more incredible would come along. They're slowly trained to accept whatever they hear, no matter how crazy it is.

Give us a price range and approximately what you will be using it for, to have an idea what we can suggest. For example - do you need big zoom? Fast lens? Wide lens? Manual settings?
For point & shoot, the Canons are very good, also some in Panasonic's line. I also support George's advice for a Canon's G series, they're very good. If you're aiming for something cheaper, look for the Canon A series. I haven't looked for the current lineup, but 2 years ago the A1000 was probably the best choice camera for price/quality.
My camera is a Canon SX10, it's somewhat expensive, but the zoom range is out of the charts - 20x optical coupled with a 10MP image size, I can make photos of the moon like the ones you see in the postcards. The drawback is that huge zoom comes with a slight price of image quality - it's still excellent quality, but the G series is slightly better.
It's recommended to look at sample fotos you can found on the internet - the color tone varies, and two different cameras can give two quite different pictures. For example I found Sony's cameras to have a better color fidelity, but I still like Canon's overall warm and rich colors better. Some good sites are the suggested dpreview, or you might look at http://www.imaging-resource.com/ too.
Oh and don't worry about USB, I don't think they make any camera nowadays that doesn't have USB.

Hey, choosing to be a pacifist is a wonderful thing and I would applaud anyone who can walk that path.
You know that JW's reject the term "pacifist"? They say they are not pacifists, because they happily look forward to God's war (sic from the awake), and for a true a pacifist any kind of war is wrong. Awake '97 may 8, page 22.
In fact it's quite funny how the WTS tries to escape from any kind of label on them: they're not pacifists, they're not fundamental, they're not neo-protestant, and they're definitely not a cult. They want to appear so different from everything else in the world, that they escape classification.

That's so sad. Is that not a violation his human right?
No bro, denying a child the best healthcare he can get is the violation of his human right, article 25. No matter what the WT lies to you, by blood transfusion in certain conditions the child still has way better chance of surviving than any alternative solutions.

The plying in the middle. That's the strong point. When you're tearing apart a Watchtower opened, that's where you'll need the most strength to rip it.

DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

The similarities were striking... Problems everywhere, but keep saying we're the happiest, you'll come to believe it.
I was honestly afraid for the reporter's life, at points it was like she was poking in a nest of vipers.

District Conventions: The Single People/Wanna Be Married Opportunity
by mentallyfree31 inas the conventions started today in my home state, i can't help but think of the hundreds of jw young people that i know who are still single, esp those over 25. it's really sad that for so many this is their only chance of finding somebody to date.
some that i know have even crossed over into their 30's, and they go year after year, always talking about the possibility of meeting someone special.. the organization literally controls their minds, and dating and marriage to a non-jw is out of the question.
it's so sad that so many have missed out on their life's dreams of having a family and companionship.

The only good thing to do was stand above crowds at the stadium and look down at all the sisters...
If the stadium's angle is big enough, it's even better standing below the crowd and looking up at the sisters, all of them in skirts Ok ok, I'll go to my corner.

What are your jw's saying about the 'generation'?
by carla ini am curious as to what current jw's are saying about the new 'generation' definition especially now that the assemblies are in full swing.
or do they just brush it off as usual?.
how would they have a normal (not a jw) discussion in public if the topic got onto say... our father's generation did things different.... that generation blah, blah..... you know common terms us worldlies & media use.

My wife says it's perfectly logical and in line with other "truths" dispensed by the FDS.
An otherwise intelligent elder (about whom I made a topic) told me this was always how he imagined a 'generation' That when his extended family gathered around, there were young people to old people, and he thought about all of them as one generation. I was at loss of words, and only asked him to open a dictionary when he has a chance.
