So if you're kicked out of the XJWs, that makes you a JW, doesn't it? Have fun at the memorial.

Anyone from Canada? Thinking of emigrating there...
by teel intitle almost says it all.
i'm sure there are some canadians here, so please voice your oppinion - am i out of my mind to move there, or is it the best decision of my life?
- of course the answer is somewhere in between, but feel free to be extreme if you want to .

Thanks everyone, lots of good info in here. Many of you touched one of my biggest concern: the cold (ok, unemployment is the biggest, but that can be changed much more easily than the weather). I don't really have a problem with it, but my soon-to-be wife literally hates winter - yet Canada was her idea, I only agreed that apart of the winters I only know good things about Canada. We really have to think hard about this though. Will probably nag you more later as things develop

I took an online test on the official site (http://www.cic.gc.ca), and it said I would be eligible if I got an arranged employment.

Also I'd apreciate any kind of advice, description of your country, way of living, ease of employment, weather, people, anything that might cross your mind.
As personal info I'm a software developer - however partly because of the JWs, partly because of bad decision making on my part, I have quit the university. So I am an interresting combination - no degree, but actually quite skilled and with vast experience - been working for 10+ years in the field, and right now I have the competition doing everything in its power to get me to work for them, so I must be good So, how much do you think the lack of a degree would impede me there?
Edit: what can I say? Do'h! Silly me, it's night there Well, I'll just bump this thread in a few hours.

Do you appreciate the sacrifices brothers made in 1927 so that we can preach on Sundays?
by miseryloveselders inthe may 2011 km has an article on page 2 entitled, "could you share in the ministry on sundays?
1. it was the sabbath, a day when most jews in philippi rested.
paul and his companions were visiting the city during one of their missionary tours.

Sunday FS meeting was always a deserted one. Even though at least half of the congregation was still around, chatting, usually only 2 people went in for the meeting: the conductor, and an old pioneer "sister". I was conducting once the Sunday FS meeting, it was a pleasant one-on-one chat with the pioneer... then I went straight home.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I agree with sizemik. Your reasons to leave the JWs were all the wrong ones, and you did not find the strength within you to fight the conditioning imposed by the religion. In your "away" time you did exactly what was expected of you - as a "worldly" you drank, had sex, generally lead a life of debauchery.
However this is not always the case. Many here have found the true reason to leave the religion: because it's not the "Truth". As soon as you realise that, you have the power to fight against the preconceptions, that when you're outside the JWs you have to be a big sinner.
I have looked twice over your reasons for going back. I have not found anything in there that you need to be a JW to do. Are you entirely convinced that the JWs have the "Truth" about God? Are you willing to put it under scrutiny to test that assumption? (Acts 17:11)
Edit: never mind, I'm very slow today it seems, by the time I wrote these few words, you wrote a lot of new stuff. Anyway... I just let my post stand here now :)

By "it is a Torrent type file" you mean the extension of the file is .torrent? Because then any bittorrent application should be able to open it... But it is not the real file, but a sort of "link" to download the actual file. When you open the .torrent it should start downloading, and you should get the actual book (probably a pdf) - check the bittorrent application to see it being downloaded, and when it's done, then try to open it by double clicking. Or when you tried to open with a bittorrent app, did it give you some sort of error?

authorization for blood
by isaacaustin inok, if i were in an emergency and needed blood, would i need someone to sign an authorization for me to receive?
would my jw family get in trouble if they signed?
how can i authorize a firend to sign?
-
teel
They don't check for a Blood Card.
No offense, but that's irresponsible. If you're unconscious they should check for documents before doing anything to you - a good friend of mine almost got her brain destroyed because she was unconscious and noone bothered to check her documents before trying to "save her life", and administered a drug that was almost lethal in her case.

what the hell is a pagan atheist?
A poly-non-theist. Cross it with a JW, and you get someone who knocks on your door for no reason whatsoever.
