  Language Course for Sydney BBQ (Lesson 6)

  well, here it is, the final lesson in our language course to prepare us for this weekend's sydney bbq.. how ya been goin'?.

  there'll be time at the end of this lesson to review the full course.. today we're going to consider what to say to those experiencing emotional distress, or how to recognise it in someone you meet.. 1. the old man's shot through = my husband's left town.

  Someday, perhaps able to set it aside, and truthfully be able to say "That was then, this is now."

  It happens eventually ..... although there are many things that will be so deeply imprinted that if we are not on our guard we can slip back at times. For the most part, we do get past it once we recognize what we are working on.

  What about the scriptural obligation to preach?

  i've always been taught that each disciple of christ has a scriptural obligation to preach, and to do so in imitation of jesus and his disciples.

  they did this by house to house, in synagogues, and in the marketplaces.

  this is one thing that has always kept me close to jehovah's witnesses.

  Looking, there is no command that we are to do formal preaching like the JW's state.

  The greatest witness is how we live our lives. What we do says a lot more than anything we say.

  If you think more about the life of Jesus, isn't that how he preached more than not?

  Newbie saying hello and glad to be here

  hello, i've been lurking the board for quite sometime now and i have also read crisis of conscience.

  my hubby and i stopped attending the meetings since december and had our first christmas in 6 years.

  it was fun although the feelings of guilt are still within us.. we've been visited by the elders twice but we managed to keep them at bay.

  Forget the guilts about Christmas, birthdays, mothers and fathers day and all the others ....

  LIVE!!!!!! You have nothing to feel guilty about!!!! There is no scriptural injunciton against those things and they are not included in any bible lists which define those who will not inherit eternal life ...

  and if it was so wrong to use the dates of pagan celebrations to illustrate something about god, then why do the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles all fall on the old Spring and Harvest festivals?

  God is much bigger than those things anyway.

  I have placed it in the special file that I created last year where I can keep addresses that I may need, but do not want to get included on those days I am cognitively impaired.

  At the moment I am going through a stage of sorting it all out in my head..wish it would go away

  Comf .... all you had to do was remind me .....

  I do sometimes forget you know ...... so take me off the blocked list ..... I will keep it just for when I need to ask you something privately ... OK

  Anyway, that explains why I never got an answer from you when I did write about something a while back.
