I agree with what you guys and gals are saying in regards to how screwed up the JW mentality is regarding life and death. It goes without saying that they're twisted in how they view nonbelievers, apostates, and disfellowshipped ones. Being fair though, I'm hesitant to paint all JWs with that brush. This forum is full of people who were former JWs in good standing at one point, and active JWs still in good standing that don't verbalize those negative thoughts. Reflecting on my own thought process, even when I believed all of it hook-line-sinker, I never had feelings of hatred or lack of compassion toward unbelievers, disfellowshipped, or apostates.

Not to get preachy on you guys, but 1 Pet 3:9 comes to mind regarding "not paying evil with evil, or insult with insult." Romans 12:17 states the same and includes "being honorable to all." Some translations render, "do whats right in the eyes of all." Granted, I'm probably NOT the best guy to promote those verses as my attitude towards people is horrible at times as evidenced several times on this forum. However, being that this is a public forum, and one of the more popular forums focusing on JWs, I think we all should be cautious of the feelings we display for the sake of lurkers. Not to mention, some of us probably should do some soul searching if it seems we traded in the dehumanization we had of others while being a JW, only to have the same numbness towards other's plights as an ExJW. The more I'm typing, the more I'm thinking about Jesus thoughts on turning the other cheek, or making peace with one's brother before offering a sacrafice before the altar. Its not enough to do whats right by our actions, but also by our thought process and our feelings. God corrected Cain before he acted on his jealousy and hatred. So it wasn't just his actions, but his heart was crooked. I think we all would do well to meditate on our own feeling and thoughts toward others, especially those who were in the same boat we were in being brainwashed.

By the way, please don't reference this post if I say something vile to any of you on here LOL.

i dont know if this thread is going to offend anyone...but whenever i was a kid, and i thought about 'jehovah distroying everything' i always used to think about that song 'rock the cabash' by the clash, (and later willeinum by will smith).

or rem-its the end of the world as we know it?

i dont know why those two songs go through my head whenever i think of the end of those world when i hear those songs lol..

Miseryloveselders: Are you from the UK?

Naw, I'm across the pond in the States. I went through a phase about a year and a half ago where I couldn't get enough punk. I've explored everything from The Clash, to GBH, UK Subs, The Exploited, Riot Squad, The Damned, Discharge, The Business, all that UK punk. I love that sound. I was dang near obsessed with it for a while. Plus I've always appreciated foreign films, particulary from the UK. Made In Britain with Tim Roth, Meantime with Tim Roth and Gary Oldman, Danny Boyle flicks like Trainspotting, and Shallow Grave. I think he did 28 Days Later too? Good zombie flick. There's just something about the UK that fascinates me, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but the UK attracts me.

Good thread Joliette. For some reason I'm thinking Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. When you mentioned The Clash, I was leaning more towards London Burning being the fitting Big-A song for the UK. Now that I'm thinking about it, there's a whole bunch of songs that could fit the soundtrack for the Big A. I can picture nose in the air JWs singing I Dont Care About You by Fear as they watch fellow members of the human race get destroyed for not taking the time and listening to their poorly prepared presentations. Appetite For Destruction by NWA would be fitting when the birds start circling in the air right before they land and begin pecking on the corpses of all the apostate scum on this board.

so yesterday my mil did the token believing df'd person thing and told my wife that if she had not been df'd she would not have corrected her course of action.

it was a devistating blow to everything that i've been working on with my wife.

her mom said if she had not been df'd she would have spread lies about my wife's dad and would have still wanted to be with her ex-boyfriend.

JW's don't go church... they go to the Kingdom hall

do you remember correcting everyone who would ask you where you go to church.

the jw reply was usually something like....we don't go to a church we go a kingdom hall.

jw's just have to be different you know.. yesterday i went to my citys museum.

Its so petty and trivial to insist that the Kingdom Hall isn't a church. The past handful of years I haven't went out of my way to correct people on something that doesn't need corrected. Tommorrow when people ask me what I did over the weekend, I'll fit in that I went to church on Sunday. Today after the meeting, I went to the grocery store. I saw someone that I hadn't seen since I graduated high school. Being that I was dressed up, she asked if I was coming from church, to which I replied yes I am. Its petty and a waste of breath to make an issue out of KH not being a church.

In a similar vein, I find it petty that JWs substitute church titles for those that have responsibilities within the congregation. JWs don't have deacons, they have ministerial servants. JWs don't have overseers, but rather Elders. JWs don't have a clergy, but rather anointed Christians represented by the Governing Body who serve as mediator between us and Christ/Jehovah. JWs don't have megachurches, but rather assembly halls. JWs don't have Bishops, but rather Circuit Overseers. JWs substitute pulpit for a host of different terms such as, the podium, the stage, the main speaker's mic,etc..

There's others that could be mentioned too, but at the end of the day its all so petty.
