Update on my JC hearing...received the expected news

Misery, the wedding is this upcoming weekend. We will turn in our letters of appeal today, succesfully delaying the announcement until after the wedding. I'm thankful for that.
Ya know what, its gloomy and raining where I'm at today, but reading that just made my day!! You and your wife better go to that wedding and have a blast!! Enjoy yourselves, and have a beer and an extra slice of cake for me. That was truly some good news.

Pissing On JWs That Are Geuninely Searching Here
by minimus ini just want to say something about witnesses who come here just to try to rebel rouse as opposed to jws that come here and are "searching" or are "active" members in the organization but are reading info on this site.. there's no reason to "beat down" witnesses just because they still go to meetings and we don't.
i've seen some insulting words against present elders and it's unnecessary and judgmental, in my honest opinion.
some jws like to spar with us on this board and it's a losing effort for them in reality.. who knows when or what will make someone actually leave the tentacles of the organization.

I have to ask about the way you worded the above quote... do you still consider yourself a JW, even to yourself or to non-JWs? It's been my observation that even those that have to pretend to some degree because of family or whatever, they still manage to stop referring to themselves as a JW.
I think someone who has mentally freed themselves but has to put on appearances is not really a JW anymore. Sure, their number counts on the WT books, but if you're mentally free, no longer under their influence and are working to undermine the WT control on friends/family still in, you're a double agent. You're not really a JW...you're an ex-JW working on the inside.
Good question........being honest, I don't know anymore. UC are you playing old man mind games on me? LOL, I don't want to sound like I'm being evasive, but it really does depend on what day you ask me. IF you would have asked me this past weekend, I would have said no. Today though, I still consider myself a JW for the most part, I just don't acknowledge the Governing Body or a Faithful & Discreet Slave any longer. I've mentioned before, there's much I agree with coming out of WT Land. Just so happens to be the handful of issues I do have with them are biggies.
Sticking with the thread topic, I think to some degree some posters might get a little sensitive on here. Its a message board at the end of the day. I always liked what I heard an inmate say once, "if ain't worth killing over, it aint worth fighting or arguing over." I feel the same way. No reason to get overly sensitive by what people post here. At the same time, some posters call themselves dispensing tough love and while not as eloquent as TD or Leolia, their heart is in the right place. So if it comes off crude, we're all big boys and girls, we deal with it. The thought behind it is what counts.

If still "in", how do you feel when praying in front of a group despite being in doubt of your beliefs?
by Crisis of Conscience init happened to me this weekend.
i'm curently "active" and had some long time friends from a different congregation over for dinner.. we went through the formality of praying before the meal.
normally or rather lately i've been passing it off to someone else.

too, am of the skirt wearing class so I don't get asked to pray in front of others much.
I don't say Amen at the hall to the GB/FDS worshiping prayers, but I do assent to decent prayers by a few of the brothers.
This is my take on it too. Most prayers on behalf of a group are neutral enough that all can usually say amen genuinely. I don't say amen when they mention the GB/FDS either. I'll say amen when a Boeing 747 lands in their building during their weekly meeting.

the first song for this week's watchtower study is song #46. it's an old "familiar" one (song #33 in the "sing praises to jehovah" songbook) - of course with new words.
and since it starts out so familiar we at our meeting today sang it from the bottom of our hearts - just as we used to.

Every meeting is hilarious to me now with the song book. I swear, EVERY meeting the singing is atrocious. The song, "This Is the Way", is starting to become an annoyance to me. I think I've heard it more than any of the other songs. For one reason or another it seems to be the popular song amongst WT heavys. I friggin hate that song. Terrible. Yesterday I just gave up during the song. I just read along while others in attendance butchered the prebutchered songs.

Interesting though. The Service Overseer must have reminded me three times in the past week that he was going to the Annual Meeting. He's getting older and a little senile. He's an ok fellow, otherwise I would have said to him, "you told me already! I get it already, you must be a somebody!!" The visiting speaker today mentioned the Annual Meeting in his concluding prayer. I didn't hang around long enough to give him the traditional and obligatory "good job" comment after the meeting. So I can only guess he went too, and felt very important. Most JWs didn't even know the Annual Meeting was yesterday, and must quite frankly, don't care. You can add it to the list of items that include why does Bro.Splain look like a pervert, and does Herd realize he looks like buffoon surrounded by a bunch of men of European descent.
EE, you're probabaly right about things about to get harder. I guess sometimes I take for granted how many DOs and COs have the potential for getting out of line. You figure they're largely left alone, and have unlimited people kissing their booty. I imagine that has the potential to get to their heads.
A school for young ambitious brown nosers who were either too awkward, socially stunted, or incapable of making a living suitable enough to attract a woman. A school on the other hand for ambitious brown nosing couples who aren't satisfied with their local congregation recognizing their theocratic persuits and achievements. The latter school is for those who need more recognition. As if the list of unscriptural accolades just isn't good enough I guess. I feel bad for the congregation they get assigned to.

Good thread topic. This is a really good indictment of the old white dudes and one token nigga in NY who have our families and hence our lives in a chokehold. You ever see the flick Bubba Hotep? Ossie Davis thinks he's John Friggin Kennedy, and Bruce Campbell thinks he's Elvis Pressley. They're both in a old timer's mental institution. Now imagine if the staff started believing that these two clowns really are who they say they are, can you imagine how insane that would be? Would you put your old loved ones in that facility? Absolutely not. Now look at it from this perspective. Imagine the old timer's mental institution is the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society. Guess who the staff are? Its you and me. We're paying with our money, lives and volunteering our lives to allow several old white men and one token nigga to live a life that most Medicare aged people dream of. These shysters have convinced 7 million people or so to contribute their income and lives because these old fart bastards have stated that they're the annointed representatives of Jehovah.
Let me ask you another question. How do we know that Jehovah has appointed these several old white men, and one token nigga? Because these several old white men and one token nigga have told you so! They even print pictures of themselves so you and I know who they are!!! How kind of these several old white men and this one token nigga!! It sounds outragous, but guess what? They got our lives in a chokehold. I love the scene in the move Scarface, when Scarface shoots the corrupt cop. The cop holding his wound says, "you can't shoot a cop!" Scarface looks at him and says, "Whoever said you was one? So long Frank, have a good trip." Then he finishes him off. We've got the same corrupt cops in New York professing to be God's chosen spokesmen. The only question I have is whoever said they were?

Hey Noble, you might be right. I know I posted that I've been able to walk between both worlds, but at times it get hard. I struggle somedays worse than others. No easy solution though. Life is about struggle I guess. It wasn't meant to be a cakewalk. Thank you for the sentiments, I appreciate that especially on a night like tonight. Lonliness is tormenting my soul tonight.
Poopsie, thanks for asking. Had I responded when you originally posted, I would have said, I guess I'm ok. Right now though, I'm not doing too hot. I just got back from a book store. I swear when you browse a book store, you realize how much in life you've missed out on. Thirty something years of my life dedicated to a pseudo Christian book publishing company. It hurts me to think they got the best of my family and almost got the best of me. They might still get the best of me depending on how I play my cards. Its not right, but its life I guess. Hey Lil Witch, I just got back from Macys and Barnes N Nobels, and I was behind a black BMW that could not figure out what they wanted to do regarding parking spaces. I was furious!!! While i was in a parking lane, I noticed two lanes over, there were empty spaces, so I wanted to get over there, but I'm stuck behind this BMW. So I honked the horn, and raised my arms like what are you going to do? So they pulled over so I could get past them. When I passed them, I noticed it was a soccor mom on a cell phone. ARGHGHGHGH!!!!!! Being honest Little Witch, I am unhappy tonight. I was unhappy when I picked my screen name, hence the adjective, Miserable. Jeez, its been over a year now since I picked that name, and the only thing thats changed is I'm now consciously miserable. This life is a pathetic existance. I bought Christopher Hitchen's God Is Not Great tonight. I probably wouldn't have done it on any other day, but tonight I had a moment of weakness, and its time to explore all sides of relgious arguments. Like I mentioned before, when browsing a book store, you realize how much you've not been exposed to in life as a born in Jehovah's Witness. Walking through the History section, the True Crime section, Graphic Novel section, Science section, Math section, etc.. It hurts, I've been living in a bubble to some degree.
Cult Classic, I swear reading your posts, its like we're one in the same. It amazes me how many of us have had the same experiences, or are going through the exact same emotions at the same time.
