They're still alive? Hasn't it been like a month since that happened? Since they've been trapped in the mine, 300 people have been killed in Mexico's drug war, the Israelis and Palestinians have declared and broken three different cease-fires, Randy Moss has been traded to the Vikings, Ben Roethlisberger and Kobe gang raped Monica Lewinsky, the US Goverment is on the verge of admitting E.T. activity, Sylvia was in an interracial relationship, B-Rock became a Democrat, and Dark Side devoloped manners. It will be a different world the miners will be returning to since they were initially trapped.

Believing JW's , do you agree with anything Debator says ?
by wobble ini ask because i threw down the challenge on another thread that if any agreed with debator/reniaa's apologetics in any area would they please post so that we can see where jw's are correct in their teachings.. nobody supported deb/ren's points.. i do not ask for a list of "correct" jw teachings, just where is deb/ren's correct presentation of wt/jw beliefs that stand scrutiny and are truth.. if there are none then we do not need to engage in any kind of talk with deb/ren..

Being fair though, she does contribute to this forum. As far as all the JW apologists go, she's the only one who actually will debate the issues. She's not mental like MadJW, or immature like Bane, or full of fecal matter like DJEggNogg, or schizophrenic like Alice/Confearacy. She debates the issues, and through her posts, and the responses by others it does a tremendous service for lurkers and posters like myself. Me personally, I'm still formulating my positions on certain matters. What I appreciate about this forum is the collage experiences, opinions, research and thoughts. If it were all antiJW, of what good would this forum be other than to get things off our chests?

and so it begins... what next?
by bez inmy husband had another 'phone call' last night from the congregation po... the conversation went something like this..... po " i do not want to put words into your mouth but are you saying you no longer want to be recognised as a jw?".
hubby " i am not making that statement no... cut to the chase what are you getting at".
po " i have been informed you celebrated (child) birthday".

The po acknowledged we had been having doubts and said that bascially by researching anything other than the publications while having doubts was looking at apostate teaching and would therfore mean we were apostate. He reasoned that (as hubby had told him that some in the cong already with the exception of a couple had not spoken to us for months) that these ones would probably have taken this stand becuase of some of our 'apostate' ideas.
This is the clincher sorry to say. Correct me, if I'm reading too far into this, but more than one person has not spoken with you because of your apostate ideas. In judicial speak, that means you've been not only holding onto ideas contrary to what the WT teaches, but also spreading those ideas.
po " I have been informed you celebrated (child) birthday"
hubby " I wouldnt call it that, we just simply recognised she was a year older"
This as well is a clincher. I like your hubby's Johnny Cochranesque reply, but the PO has a clincher with this as well. They can reason by your actions you've already disassociated yourself. I've never heard of or seen how a birthday celebration would play, maybe another Elder or former Elder can speak on how this would potentially play out. Me personally, I'd say they'll treat this the same as they would if it was confirmed you knowingly accepted a blood transfusion.

"The FDS has lovingly given us time"
by Crisis of Conscience inboy am i tired of hearing this one.
yes folks, i heard it at the meeting this week...again.
the sm included a local needs part and this was the subject - family worship night.. apparently, regarding fwn, that time was never, nor now is, ours.

They know the Bible well enough to staunchly defend their doctrine. What you say gives the idea like the JWs have "well rounded" Bible knowledge, when this is just simply not the case.
They have a lot bias Biblical prowess.
-Sab
Hey Sav, thats why I said, "even if they have the wrong ideas on much of it." Yeah I agree with you that its mostly to defend their doctrine. However to be fair, I'd say the average rank and file JW knows their Bible than the average Catholic, Baptist, whomever. I'm speaking from a northeast locality, so I don't know how knoledgeable folks are in the deep south and Bible Belt. Down there, they seem to be a little more dedicated than up here where I'm at.

Do you think the Governing Body is having internal conflicts?
by stuckinamovement ini ask because the number of gb is lower than any time in history.
basically with the 7 (8 counting barr, is his head frozen?
) currently on,you have an average size elder body.

Do you attend the local cong in my area LOL?
The first Elder meeting I sat in on was an eye opener. The COBOE at my Hall, is an ok guy. I would never criticize him excessively. His heart is ok in my opinion. However in that meeting, I saw him pretty much nod his head to whatever was being said. I mean it could be an issue where the Body was divided evenly. He is incapable of making a decision on his own merits. If one faction say, "such, so and such and such", he'll nod his head and reply, "yeah." If the other side comes with a counter argument, he'll not his head and agree with them. He basically makes his decisions off of whomever had the last word.

@ miseryloveselders - In the past 6 months, I would venture to say that this is about the 3rd time we have a local needs dealing with this. I guess the major problem in the hall, or even sin, is getting people to be regular at this.
Oh yea, and I don't remember when I last studied for a meeting, unless I was assigned to read.
CoC
You know, I personally do it still because I don't think its a bad habit to read the Bible regular at all. People can say whatever they will about JWs, much of the negative being true, but one thing is certain. Compared to a bunch of other Christian denominations, JWs know their Bible better than most, even if they have the wrong ideas on much of it. If I didn't study for the meeting nights, I'd probably fall out of the habit considerably, if not all together.
But yeah COC, believe it when I say it, this "arrangement" did not work out according to plan.

I think the GB are mere figureheads. There are others who are really running the show.
I wonder about this sometimes too. Possibly heavyweights in the legal department that realize the potential for lawsuits if they go too liberal, too quick especially in the realm of blood transfusions, and organized shunning. What makes me think this is unlikely though, is from sitting in Elder meetings. From my own experience, and that which was relayed to me by others, most Elder meetings have a couple blowhards who dominate the body. They have their man-whores who will go whatever which way they demand. Sometimes the COBOE formerly the PO is spineless, and he'll go whichever way the wind blows so long as its less trouble for him. Others on the body with less than dynamic personalites, or humble fellows with good hearts will often concede to the more honcho elders on the body. As a result, often congregations suffer. Every now and then a CO with a chip on his shoulder, or with a good heart will come and break those Elder bodies up. Considering all of that, why wouldn't it be the same at the GB level? The only difference is there's nobody to check their hand, with the exception of maybe the Legal Department.

Oh yeah, you're not the only one COC LOL. This is actually starting to turn into a hot topic in CO conversations with Elders. This is right up there with pornography on the internet, and higher education. It appears The Friends are doing whatever the heck they feel like doing on Tuesday night. Who woulda ever thought that if the friends weren't being monitored, they might just do something contrary to what the Faithful & Discreet Slave intended? Shocking stuff! CO's are encouraging Elder bodies to investigate under the guise of shepherding calls. I believe whats happening in a lot of situations is that some are preparing for the mid week meeting on Family Study Night, which is not what the Clergy Pope Class Governing Body intended. They'd rather you prepare for the mid week meeting on Monday, or Wednesday. Tuesday, however, or whatever day was the day for your book study, that was to be a night of study material not related to the mid week meeting. Personally, I still prepare for meetings even when I don't have a part or anything. I do it on the Family Study night.

Lady Lee (Lee Marsh) could use help
by Dogpatch inshe can't read this now because her computer has been broken for several days.
lee is not a complainer now would dare ask for help, but though she can even build computers, she has ancient equipment and if you know her, little funds.. bottom line: she needs a $500+ cpu box to get updated to the 21st century.
if you are interested in helping her (don't email her because she won't get it, and don't call her and embarrass her yet) but this girl needs a "working car" to get back on the road, if you know what i mean.. email me at [email protected].

I just wanted to remind all of you that you didn't follow the Slave's procedure for this sort of shindig you lukewarm folks just had. You're supposed to make a motion first that you're going to help LAdy Lee. Then someone is supposed to second the motion. Then if the majority of the forum raises their hand, only then can you open up the flood gates to voluntary donations. Duh!!!
