Another Self-Serving F&DS Article
by serenitynow! ini don't know why i keep reading this crap.
the april 15, 2011 kool-aid edition has an article entitled: do you discern the evidence of gods guidance?
the article starts out with how the isrealites followed the "pillar of cloud and fire" which was evidence of god's guidance until they got to the "promised land.

What 'hooked' you... and what made you leave?
by s0rt3d ini wasn't born in.
i got hooked in as a teenager.
was going through a tough time, wondered why we exist, why god wasn't doing anything to solve man's problems, if there was a true religion and, hey-presto, a jw classmate showed up with book that not only asked the questions i was asking but answered them too!.

I was born in, and did everything I was trained for and expected to do. That is get baptized and reach out for privileges. I haven't left yet, and that doesn't seem like its going to happen in the near future, but mentally and emotionally I'm gone. My reason for leaving in this fashion is the smug, arrogant, pretentious attitude prevalent in the WT's literature, and also found within many JWs. I've never felt comfortable looking down on everyone who is not a JW and expecting that someday Jehovah is going to destroy all nonJWs. Its nonsensible, and inhumane. I also take offense at the WT's intepretation of The Faithful and Discreet Slave as its man-worship.

Its crazy that the dark skinned vs light skinned thing is still in effect in some areas. I remember being a teenager with hormones on fire, and there was a neighborhood that somehow developed the reputation of having all the pretty light skinned girls with long hair. If one of your friends stated he had a girlfriend from that neighborhood, you just assumed he had a model. It wasn't till I got older and realized how self racist that way of thinking is. I'm thinking as time goes on, that entire way of thinking will go extinct, I hope so anyways as its retarded. Its funny how what I've found attractive physically in females has changed as I've gotten older. Nowadays, I find myself not liking light skinned black women, but prefer brown skinned and dark skinned ones.
As far as differences between congregations go, like others said, its subjective. I've seen lively white congregations, and dull black congregations full of old people. There was one white congregation I'll never forget though. I've given talks at that hall. My dad had surgery done a couple months prior to me visiting this hall one time. I knew he desperately wanted to get out of the house. So I called him and invited him to come along with me. He was ecstatic. This hall is in a somewhat well to do community. There's quite a few money makers, and influential professionals in this community. That congregation which was all white, I don't recall one black person in the audience, and it had to have been the deadest hall I've ever come across. All middle aged and elderly white people. The youngest people were in their 30s. When driving my dad back home, he said the hall was like a morgue. The funny thing is, considering the mild drama in his congregation, he said the dead hall would have been a breath of fresh air.
I'm kinda glad you brought this thread up , cuz my situation has just changed dramatically, and I'm considering moving to another congregation, and that dead hall is a little bit out of my way, but its the first choice on my radar. I just want to go somewhere that I know nobody will bother me. That congregation is too old and dead to pester a prospective fader. I have to say, that hall is sooo dead and layed back, it's comical.

Thanks Caliber.
After reading the summary, I'm under the impression feminism isn't the problem as much as he just needs to man up. He strikes me as one of those EMO dudes with a touch of bow-tie Republican in him. Think Tucker Carlson. In other words, he's soft. When relationships don't work out for him, its always everybody elses fault, never the fault of the weakling in the mirror. My experience tells me, guys like him end up involved in relationships with women who are seeking a man that acts like a man. Usually those women run all over guys like him. After the unbalanced, emotionally abusive relationship is over, the guy ends up on YouTube ranting about what feminism has done to the dating scene. All because women aren't bending over backwards for him here in the States.

Welcome to the board, Mr.Falcon. I know what you mean, it is a feeling of relief to know there's others in our position. We're not crazy, we're just all too aware.

by brotherdan ini was recently talking with my good friend ding via pm on jwn, and the subject of legalism in prayer came up.
ding has much experience with jehovah's witnesses.
he was never one himself, so i get to teach him some things about the organization that he occasionally does not know.

Good points fellas. One I wanted to add was related to John 14:14 where Jesus states that if his followers ask of anything in his name, he will do it. He was talking about himself at that point. For some reason though, the WT always used that verse as supporting the need to use Jesus' name "as a stamp" to our prayers to Jehovah. I like that stamp illustration, Dan. Considering that, I've always found it curious to pray in Christ's name even when I'm thanking Jehovah for something random. At that point I'm not asking for anything, I'm thanking God. I've been meaning to do more research on this, but its something that time hasn't permitted, and I keep forgetting to follow up on it. Good thread Dan.

PYRAMID SCHEME - Good point you make. WT society advises Witnesses to keep the end or " Armageddon " close in mind - but out of the same mouth they put them down for overeager expectations. I mean- What in the hell does the WT society expect ?
It is ironic they do that. You're telling me the end of the world is coming and it could happen any moment now. Waiting on the end of the world isn't like waiting for your car to not pass the state inspection, or waiting on your altenator to go.

The only good thing about the first two was the fight scene with Darth Maul and Obi-wan/Qui-gon.
Yes yes yes!!!! I went to the theater the second weekend after it launched. As far as movies that I went to the theater to see and left disappointed, its a toss up between the Phantom Menace, and Lady In the Water. The whole time during the Phantom Menace, I was saying to myself, when's Darth Maul gonna come out? After a while I was salivating for him to kill anyone. Kill Anakin, Kill Qui Gon, Kill Obi, kill Amidala(sorry SD-7), hell kill me, just come out and kill somebody or something already!! All that hype, and Lucas blew it.
The graphic novel showing Maul's training is awesome by the way.
