I heard a visiting speaker deliver a talk where he likened Armageddon to good destruction. He stated that not all destruction is bad, often destruction is necessary. In this case, Jehovah's destruction of this system of things is a good thing. I thought about it later on my drive home from the meeting as it was a nice day. I had to get some shopping in, and on my way to the grocery store I hit a few red lights. While sitting in my car, I saw young couples smiling and holding hands, enjoying each other's company. I looked into my rear view mirror, and saw an old couple in their car going whereever. I saw some women with baby strollers. I parked my car in the lot, and started walking towards the automatic sliding doors at the grocery store. On my way, I saw families coming in and coming out. I saw a father holding his little daughter in his arms. When I stepped into the store, I almost got ran over by a disabled elderly woman in one of those motorized carts. It made me chuckle to myself.
Days like that make me reflect upon what the WT has been teaching and what I currently believe. You know Abraham pleaded with God over Sodom and how it would be unconscionable for God to destroy it with their being righteous people within it, regardless if they were the minority. Jonah got the Ninevites to repent, and Jehovah backed off on destroying their city for 40 years if my memory serves me correct. I'm thinking that if God fearing people, even JWs, find themselves questioning the sensibleness of a global Armageddon instigated by heavenly forces, if they question it, then I don't think its unreasonable to believe that the WT's view of Armageddon needs reexamined. Especially since we've been awaiting this global destruction for the past 2000 years.

I copped the magazine on Thursday night, heluva an article. I dang near hurt my neck and head from nodding and shaking so much while reading it. The similarities between Jehovah's Witnesses and Scientolgy are amazing.

"All generalizations are false, including this one."
by Mr. Falcon inthe above mark twain quote made me think about some of the comments i heard this weekend during the watchtower study.
several commentors alluded to the seeming ignorance of "wordly" people as regards bible knowledge.
comments such as "people who go to churches don't know the bible like we do, so they may go to church and afterwards say that was a very good sermon.

I'm glad you posted this, at our meeting yesterday I was having similar thoughts. Such an arrogant, smug, self righteous lot of people in that hall. Especially the paragraphs on how churches are all to eager to cater to the desires of their parishioners. I thought to myself, well at least the churches got one thing right even if they have some doctrines misconstrued. They at least recognize that they're supposed to serve the people. The WT views their publishers parishioners the opposite way, in that their flock is supposed to serve the Watchtower.
Something else telling about that WT Study yesterday, was how they patted themselves on the back regarding the history of CT Russel. I hate articles that are self congratulatory as they lack humility. But during the article I was thinking about a recent thread where the question was asked why doesn't the WT today take advantage of the current media available to them? The WT article yesterday went as far as to say CT Russell and the WT Society were using technology more advanced than Hollywood and the result today is more than 7 million JWs. The whole time that recent thread on this forum was on my mind, in which the general consensus is that the WT today doesn't want to spread the so called important message. Really I should say they don't want too many people to know what they teach as it would bring unwanted scrutiny and criticism towards their teachings. So back in Russell's day, the WT was all about, "Advertise! Advertise! Advertise!" Today's WT is all about, "Retain, Enslave, Hamster Wheel!!!"
Did anybody else at the WT STudy have to suffer through comments dissing the Catholic Church's ok'ing the Confessional Application on people's IPhones? Everybody was smug and chuckling when someone commented on it. After the first comment, a few others felt the need to get into the action and make little quips themselves. I sat there shaking my head in my heart, thinking to myself wait until the WT developes a Disassociation Application where you rat out another brother or sister for having a blood transfusion, and in 48 hours the entire congregation will recieve the announcement via their Iphones that brother such-n-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. One day they might even have a Marking Application available for your Iphone. It will inform the entire congregation via their Cell Phones, that the daughter of Brother Such-N-So was seen taking classes at a major university, and Brother Such-N-So is no longer an elder at the Bendover Congregation.

thought most of the GB didn't have children. Still, I see what you are saying. It could be other family members. I would like to know more background on these men.
This stood out to me. All these years that we've given material support to people we've never met, nor seen in person. Anonymous men who've had so much influence in the direction of my life, including who I can marry, how I make a living, who I can or cannot have as friends, and even what medical treatment I can consider. I had a conversation with someone at the hall a couple weeks ago, and she was relaying to me a story about some people she knows. She mentioned that of these people has claimed to be of the annointed. What was telling in that conversation was she made it a point to emphasize to me that this woman is not one of the recent annointed. She did this to imply that this woman appears to be genuinely annointed, and not one of the newbies who are suspected frauds. I wanted to ask her at one point, who's to say she's still not suspect. Just because she tells people she's annointed doesn't make it true.
At the same time, I'm looking at the GB and other Bethel heavies, and the same criteria can be applied towards them. Its unsettleling to consider that all these years we've allowed a bunch of anonymous men dictate the direction in our lives. We don't know anything about them, their families, how they got to where they are, and yet we hang on their every word as if it was from God Himself. When you think about it, accepting the WT's words as the word of God is the equivalent of excepting Larsinger, AGuest, OBVES, and other anonymous posters as God's communication. No disrespect to any of those posters, but if anyone hangs on their words as truth, you're on dust.

To me Transformers will always be thee greatest cartoon of all time, at least during the 80s, and at least before I stumbled across Anime. Megatron, Shockwave, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Grimlock, and Soundwave were my favorites back then. This picture of Megatron gives me chills.

The Pressure Is On to Pioneer in April

you've got some style Misery, how can you keep up the subterfuge without giving the game away?
I don't man, some days I'm paranoid thinking the jig is already up. One day I'll share some things with you guys, as I almost raised the stakes for myself not that long ago. When this dies down, I'll share it with you. It's not that big of a deal to someone not in my shoes or similar, but for those in my situation, it would have been quite problematic. Some days I think, eventually, I'll slip up and end up in a JC for apostacy, or my heart will get the best of me and I'll start dating with a view to marriage with "an unbeliever", thereby forcing my removal from the BOE, and being marked. Or the best case scenario is, I'll lose my mind and spiral into a life of alcohol and prescription drug abuse while trying to play both sides of the fence. I don't know man, its not looking good right now.
What I do know is that there's a disconnect growing between Bethel and your average congregation here in the States. This auxilliary pioneer thing is interesting, because they're playing a different kind of game in Bethel. It's paranoia on my part, but I'm not quite willing to subside my thoughts that this whole initiative is a cull to weed out the lukewarm doubters, and the covert unbelievers. Maybe it is an innocent feeler on Bethel's part to see about dropping the hours significantly on auxilliary pioneering, and maybe even regular pioneering as that rumor never did come to fruition as being factual. I was thinking, maybe there was some real truth to the rumor about regular pioneering hours being dropped, and rather than prove that rumor as being true, the powers that be in Bethel decided to play another card...namely this initiative for April. We'll see I guess, time will tell.
You know it says something about a religion that markets itself as being refreshing, and happified, yet is so paranoid of dissent that it creates a culture of intrigue, paranoia, and even espionage if you consider Ynot's connections. I guess it goes back to what some of us are not quite willing say just yet............Itsacult.

I guess they realize that no one is going to increase their service activity, unless, they sign a piece of paper and get their name read so everyone can applaud.
LOL, there's some truth to this too. I went out in service this morning, and I have to admit I enjoyed my time out. I had a conversation with someone close to me, and I asked her if she was contemplating auxilliary pioneering in April. She replied that at this time she doesn't know, but she has considered it. She leveled with me at that point, and told me that she regular pioneered for over 10 years, and she's proud that she did that. However, she told me that she has no intention on ever doing that again. Also when it comes to auxilliary pioneering, she said sometimes she feels a measure of guilt because she's capable of auxilliary pioneering occasionally, but she simply doesn't want to. She told me she has no desire to auxilliary pioneer. Here's the best part, to me anyway, she said this initiative for April is almost like a "guilt trip directive from Bethel", as she put it. She mockingly told me that its like they're telling us, with a deep scornful voice, "we dropped the hours for you, what more do you want us to do for you? Don't you appreciate this?" We both laughed, but I have to say that I'm curious as to how many other JWs feel the pressure to do this. What she and I laughed about today in service, isn't something that you can joke around about with any old JW, as you could be viewed as a murmurer or cynical, but I'm positive that many feel the way we feel about this. They just can't say anything, because this is a jacked up religion. Maybe I should just label it what I think it is.........Itsacult.

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.
by miseryloveselders ini have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.
most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.
it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.
