MLE: You feel sorry for wts who doesn't give a rat's ass about you and you feel sorry that maybe the congregation would pay extra in premiums? Remember these same people in the congregation will shun you and that's why you haven't DA yourself at this point? NO? How many years have you wasted in the cult with what accomplishments in life thanks to wts? This whole lawsuit wasn't about being fair but simply a payback to an evil cult and if anyone gets a cent out of wtss good for them. WTS gets all their money from their members and I doubt GB members stay in $50 motels when they travel and I doubt they eat at McDonalds because they are living off the donations of others. Neither did wts care if they were defending pedophiles using donated money while at the same time using donated money to pay off victims of child abuse. Life isn't fair so why should we try to make it fair for an evil cult???? Because the real people who will shun us deserve fairness while we deserve to be treated like shit?

I hear all of that, and I understand where you're coming from, but two wrongs don't make a right bruh. There is a certain dignity in taking the high road at times. For those that see suing the congregation as appropriate from a legal standpoint, thats one thing. On the other hand, suing the congregation for some getback, well thats something entirely different. If Chukky felt he needed to get a little payback by suing the congregation, well good for him, but don't ask me and other posters on this thread, to agree with it. Now excuse me while I act like a little girl and take my marbles and run home crying because you don't agree with me!! I'm through this thread!!! I hope you're happy now!!!!

Giordano, no disrespect, but I didn't even bother reading that post, I'm done with this thread. Better things to do than argue over some people getting a paycheck over their kid's clumsiness and their own lack of supervision, especially when I didn't get a dime off of it.

LOL Iron Head. I heard that song during the commercial break of the Brady Bunch on TBS one day off of school. Its was for some patriotic compilation, and even then I remember thinking to myself that has got to be the worst song ever. But hey, if people like it, more power to em.

Ya know Shelby, no disrespect, but after reading your post, no wonder people take advantage of and abuse welfare, FMLA, medical assistance, and every other available handout they can. If none of that works to their benefit, they can always just sue. Why bother accepting personal responsibility when the system is built for you to take advantage of it and there's no shortage of people sympathetic willing to bend over backwards to defend the incompetent.

Taking Notes at Meetings and Assemblies

i was considering recently the value and content of talks by reviewing notes i'd taken.. it seems i've taken copious notes but the content was naff.

not because i'd missed interesting bits but the talks were bland 'ministry' adverts.. the talks all seemed to be full of 'do more or god will murder you'.

'feel guilty because you don't measure up.

For that KM School, I took a ton of notes because I wanted to share it with you guys/gals here, and the same with the most recent Assembly. Prior to that, every Assembly I had intentions to take a ton of notes in an effort to preserve or improve old habits, but since discovering that the information presented at assemblies is essentially worthless, I figure why bother nowadays other than to share it with apostates. Even in that case its not worth it as most of you are on point anyway.

Here's another way to look at it. We don't let our kids leave a skateboard out on the front porch and the reason should be obvious. Somebody could step on it and fall.

We could argue that the salesman who steps on a skateboard and falls should have seen something this large and this obvious until we're blue in the face. After all, you would think a skateboard would be pretty hard to miss. But that's not a legal defense. The salesman had a prior expectation of an unobstructed walkway and we had a prior responsibility to provide him one.

Good point....HOWEVER, the circumstances in this case are drastically different. The microphone wire was not something unexpected as this wasn't a family visiting the Kingdom Hall for the first time. This was a family of Jehovah's Witnesses, albeit on their way mentally out the door already, but nonetheless JWs who were very familiar with what goes on during the WT Study. Very familiar with the microphone chord being in the middle of the isle during the meeting. Also they didn't sue until after they were well out of the organization.

Aguest, I'm sorry, but The Rooster is just not going to see eye to eye with you on this. If you feel that the five year old is absolved from responsibility, well then that leaves at least one, possibly two people who are not.....the parent or parents. Since we're getting all legalistic, allow Attorney General Misery to approach the bench...........if crossing the isle during the WT Study is such a dangerous activity, why didn't one of the parents walk the child, hand in hand to to the row that the child wished to sit in? They would certainly hold the child's hand and walk the kid across a street, wouldn't they?

I'm all for bringing the WT down, but I don't agree with this. I'm glad the threadstarter and his family are out of the cancer though. I just don't agree with suing the congregation because of the actions of an underage child with careless parents. I'll concede maybe my thinking is off today, because some posters whom I respect have taken differing opinions, but i'm feeling like Pharoahe today, my heart has grown obstinate over this thread.
