Yadda Yadda... I think the core teachings such as trinity, no immortal soul ect will not set the witnesses on a new path any more than the failure of the 1914doctrine (its not important)
In sales only 7% of the sale is dependent on the words discribing the product.
I believe the watchtower product is not the doctrine.
I started this thread to find an answer to my question "What crisis will set the W.T on a new path?" and i think the answer is a % of many points. Iam now convinced individuals (apostates) make up that %.

The best way to answer this question is "Why do You Shun?"
I shun people that are bad association to me or my family, as i dont want them in my life. Do i refuse all communication with them, in some cases yes. For example i avoid all contact with some posters on this board.I shun some old friends and will never have communication with them again.
People delete friends from facebook.Why? They have reasons.
I think its a question of being responsible for our behaviour, NOT allowing an organisation to dictate who we shun.
Interesting being shunned by ex-friends on a personal level always saddend me, but i could accept and respect it.When a witness shunned me it made me angry.
I must say and i think iam lucky with this (I wasnt born in to the witnesses "Blush blush") but most of my witness friends havnt shunned me. Infact oftern they have been the ones to initiate a conversation when we meet on the street.

I think an elder has sussed me out as an apostate. :-S
by slimboyfat inan elder phoned me up the other day to see how i was.
he does this every couple of months, as part of his shepherding routine i suppose.
(at least this elder takes shepherding seriously) i have not been to a meeting for a few months.

Hi slimboyfat....only 7% of spoken communication is comprehended by the words that are actually spoken. My guess is maybe subconciosly your tone of voice gave you away.
I once had a telephone conversation with an elder (He was from another congregation and didnt no of my then fade) he only rang to ask for a broachure. I was amazed how despite saying nothing negative about the organisation, he could tell i was no longer interested in the watchtower. He bought the conversation to a premature close. This made me realise how much of a cult and how strong the watchtower mind-control is.

Did you ever know of a elder wanting montary comp for doing a sheparding visit?
by highdose ini knew an elder who would help and support those in the cong, but in return he expected some kind of compensation such as: goods brought for him or his family, services given for free etc.. this elder had a working class job but lived a very middle class life style because of this unspoken arrangement.
great holidays, new cars and his wife was very much the queen bee of the cong.
hardly wore the same thing twice and delighted in patronising the other sisters who she considered beaneath her.

What prayers does God answer?
by jwfacts ini have always struggled to understand what prayers god answers and which ones he avoids.
most religions teach that god answers prayers, so people must feel that their prayers are being answered, yet the type of prayers seem to be very selective.. .
if god answered broad based prayers, then children in third world countries would not be starving, so he does not seem to interfere in global issues.

Iam glad the words you provided from "god" have comforted you. (Disfellowshipping is something people need comfort from) iam glad other posters have found comfort from those words. Personlly those words arnt for me.
