I read your post and thought you made that story up.
You post has helped me understand why my fiendly greetings to my former friends are met with contempt.

i just got the "come be my follower" book and am shocked at their illustration on page 186. maybe i'm more shocked that at one time i would have accepted this warped reasoning.. first they quote jesus at matt.
7:21-23: "'lord, lord, did we not...perform many powerful works in your name?
' and yet then i will confess to them: i never knew you!

jehovah is one of the most colorful personalities in history!.
he is mighty, awe-inspiring, violent, whimsical, repenting of having even created man--yet, capable of bargaining with the likes of lot and stopping the literal-minded abram from stabbing his own isaac to death as a sacrifice.. jehovah flies into a rage and wipes out thousands in a heartbeat, sends she-bears to tear children apart, drowns millions of men, women, children and pregnant women in a worldwide flood---but, champions one family of 8.. this same super-deity walks in the garden of eden in the breezy part of the day, wrestles with jacob all night and can only manage to get away by crippling him!
jehovah leads the children of israel to freedom out of egypt and yet opens up the earth and swallows up many of the same people when moses delays returning from sinai and they slip into their old ways.. what a character!

You are a real apple eater.
Maybe all that was in the apple was logic and interlectuality which we convey in words. But the problem with words is they disrupt harmony and the flow of our life.
I look at the actions of Christ as recorded by words. I choose to belive that my saviour may be the charactor of Jesus. As to Jehover as recorded in the bible, it is humun to want to improve on a supreme being. And it is humun to err because people do not want to see things as they are.
Anyway the bible does say the last enemy is death. If death is non existence I do not fear it. (Why fear something that does not exist.) If death leads to a future existence then I choose to hope this colourful trinity god Jehover (does exist) and has been mis-represented by words. This is the only hope I have.

isn't it weird how so few know that there were actually two major trees in the garden of eden account.. there was the tree of knowledge (of good and bad) and there was also the tree of life.. genesis chapter 3 makes is quite clear that god banished adam and eve from the garden and placed an angel to guard the tree of life, so that they might not eat from it again.
is this implying that the two perfect humans had to eat from the tree in order to have eternal life?
if not, why protect it?.
Actually as to the story God said" ...for the day you eat of it you will die" not "if"
As to the tree representing obiedience. How was God disobayed. Adam & Eve were given a choice. They exercised their right and made a choice, and thought they were aware of the consequences. (If they were to die so much later and so much human suffering having resulted as a consequence then in the spirit of fair play God could have been a little more clear)

Thanks for your post.
I just met a J-W who didnt want to be impolite but he said he couldnt talk to me-I politly said he should be ashamed of himself.
My point is he thinks the bible teaches him to act that way.He thinks the bible is specific on these things.
Was the Bible specific on" The creaters promise that the generation of 1914 would not pass away"?
To your question "if I even know what it means to be a perfect man or perfect woman" I beleive humun life does not need to be perfect to be wonderful. It is out of imperfection that we grow and develop the fruitages of the spirit.
As for the Bible it is made up of words and words are an imperfect way to communicate.

The scripture you refer to does not in my opinion say Adam was created perfect. Such interpretation of scripture would imply Satan and Judas are also perfect.
Also:-
A.If Adam was created perfect how could he fail his first test?(Morally he certainly was not perfect)
B.If Adam needed to eat from the tree of life to live forever his body was created in a dying state. (To me this is not perfect)
Ovbiously you are entitiled to your opinion, but its also true that the bible is certainly not specific on this point so its best not to be dogmatic in our thinking.

ever searched for nostalgia items, collectibles or antiques on ebay, craig's list or some such venue?.
a lot of junk has become valuable with the passage of time.. yes, junk.. gradually it seemed to gather a mysterious inflation of valuation.. the items themselves receive wear and tear but they way they are regarded takes on an almost awesome patina of wonderful.. .
i'll give you an example.. i loved to play cowboy when i was a young kid; especially gunslinger/fast draw style.. my favorite guns were made by stallion.

I once thought the most stupid thing I was told was" That their are no badly written books only badly read books"
I now thing this was one of the most wise things I have ever been told.
I think its the same with items from our past. The passage of times gives a greater appreciation and the nostalgia gives great value.
I look around my living room and its filled with art. Most dont appreciate the paintings. (Modern abstruct)It would be incomprehensible to many that they are of financial value. I would hate to die and the paintings end up destroyed.

were there one or two trees?.
if you said one; the tree of knowledge of good and bad, you'd be wrong.
Hi St George of England
And just to clarify my thinking what is Jehovers Witnesses definition of perfect.
After Adam was created the term very good is used in the bible.
Going off topic but one thing I have learnt is life does not need to be perfect to be wonderful.

Actually I think this is a good question, and has far reaching implications to readers of the bible.
For a J.W the question needs to be asked how can you say Adam was created perfect. He was created in a dying state, or why would he need eat from the tree of life.
Actually why do J.ws say Adam was created perfect. There is not one scripture in the bible that says Adam was created perfect.
I enjoy reading the creation account because I realise as soon as I find the answer, I need to search for a question that will proove the answer wrong.
I enjoy creating the questions.

when ever bethel is rang the sister answers and places your call with an experienced brother.. so today i rang the bethel and spoke to the receptionist.. i said my question was directed to her.
this was the tough question "can you imagine never having had a child and held that child in your arms.........the conversation progressed and the sister said "do you know how old iam.....".
to cut a long phone-call.

To cut a long phone-call. short I hoped to bring a young sister to her realisation that bethel was a prison. I got an elderly sister who realised that she was in a prison.
My heart bleeds for the women in bethel. They have so much dignity taken from them . They are truly victims of this madness.
