The last few congregations I visited seemed to be composed of mostly people over 50. I'd say something approcahing 80% Very few young families, if any. For a long time the Organization has depended on organic growth so I'd say this is going to become a real problem for them.

AGEING CONGREGTIONS
by sieborg inhi everyone on this forum, this is my first post but i have been lurking around here for about a year.
i was at the hall this morning and as i was looking round i noticed that, if 20 years down the line i was stood a the back looking around, more than half of those at the hall i attend would be dead due to old age.
if anyone still goes to a k/h ,are the ones in your k/h ageing.

Congratulations, this is nice work. With reference to the thread title, as many have already pointed out, this is not "hard" evidence but it is very interesting.

What was the worst KH architecture/design you ever saw?
by BoleynGirl inthe first hall i attended as a study was built in the 1960s.
it was basically an orange brick box with aluminium framed windows.
there was no air-conditioning and it heated up like an oven in summer.

I remember a rented KH that was in a pretty grim stone building off an alley. You had to wear an overcoat in the winter to keep from freezing. The carpet was about 1mm thick and the wals were a ghastly pea green. I'll say one thing, it was so cold in there that no one ever dozed off.

I had occasion to listen in on a telephone connection because I was caring for an aged parent. I must say that like the last two time I attended the talk was pretty mediocre. I used to give the Memorial talk and I spent considerable effort to make the talk special and the occassion solemn. Now it seems like the guys are reading a laundry list. Don't know if it's because the speakers are not very good, are just lazy, or if it's because the Organization seems to have sucked the life out of most meetings.

Jehovahs Witnesses have a lot more mental problems and much higher suicide rate
by TastingFreedom injerry bergman, ph.d. .
the first american study.
the watchtower influence was often not positive, and there was no evidence that it had in the long run helped those who had emotional problems when they joined.

Bergman is a joke. He's been repeatedly discredited so don't hitch your wagon to his work. He used to have a pretty good gig as an expert witness but he was so lousy that no one will use him any more. His Ph. D is in biology has nothing to do with this subject plus it's from a non acredited diploma mill.

by Scott77 inbased on this video shot from seattle, i think this 17-year african american teenage girl acted beyond normal expectation.
she is seen threatening or attempting to hit a law enforcement officer who was doing his duty.
the officer had to hit her face.

Good for him. People need to learn that actions have consequences and she earned what she got.

I'm all for building the mosque, just as soon as Christian churches are built in Mecca and Medina.

District Assembly Dramas - where the heck do they come from?
by babygirl30 indespite growing up a jw i was always curious where this corny plays came from?
my best memories of them were when they used to turn the lights out in the convention center - cause that meant i could sleep!!!
but seriously, who writes them?

The historical fabrications and inaccuracies that have shown up in some dramas the last few years just drive me nuts. The projection of 21st century situations on to the 1st or even earlier centuries to try to make some point reaches the point of being ludicrous.

Would Witnesses REALLY drink the "Kool-aid" if the faithful slave told them to? Yes or no?
by Witness 007 ina "spiritual leader" tells his followers the must put on rebok running shoes and "drink the cool-aid" to join a ufo in the tail of a comet and "go to a better world" so, afew dozen young people do just that to get "beamed up" to the mothership.
heavens gate cult 1990's.. my mother says "she is faithful to the organisation till her death" which makes me wonder if they ordered a mass suicide like the reverend jim jones did to escape a "great tribulation"....how many witnesses would really drink the cool-aid?...
without a gun pointed at their head of course!.

I've read quite a lot about Jones and Jamestown and my conclusion is that there really aren't many similarities between the People's Temple and the Wt Organization. The level of physical, emotional and sexual abuse was much higher with Jones and people were conditioned to a level of unthinking obedience that is not equaled in the Organization. I think a handful would be prepared to drink but the vast majority would not. It's like when they said homosexuality did not break the marriage bond. Witnesses were outraged and pretty vocal about it and as a consequence the Organization backed off.
