Health - has anyone else suffered long lasting health effects from years with the Borg?
by Chariklo indoes anyone else feel or know that jehovah's witnesses damaged their health?.
i know many have emerged with depression, and i'm very relieved that i am not one of them.. but, being the age i am, (a large tribe of grandchildren) i was nonetheless pressured to go out door to door in steep countryside often in bad weather, and because i was doing my best to keep up that ended in an injury which has proved to be long lasting.. and that's not counting the stress-induced consequences...i won't cite them all here, but physical.
a few days in hospital and a summer spent on compulsory almost complete rest can all be laid at the watchtower's door.the trauma of actually extricating oneself from the borg is not stopped when one has finally written that letter that disassociates oneself from them.

newbie here - i need advice
by kassad84 inhello, i've been lurking in this forums for a while but its only now that i've created an account.
i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.
my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.

Welcome k84, I don't know how old you are but if you are between 12 and 25 and single it is perectly natural to like porn and masturbation. Be careful that porn doesn't warp your view of what is natural or common between a man and women but don't stress on a natural thing. But do go find a woman it is much better that way.

Poor homeless Bro. Larry Jackson
by ShirleyW intheres a story in the ny daily news today that says this jw is homeless and was denied shelter after having a brief conversation with the woman who helped him with his application after he mentioned he was a jw.
her reasoning of why she denied his application was that she thought he would go door to door in the 45-unit facility!
i myself find that hilarious, he just mightve done that to get his time in!

You have the right idea Billly. If he had a magazine route and four Bible studies along with enough return visits he wouldn't need a place to live he couldbe 24/7 in the homes of potential converts.

I was thinking about those old songs the other night. I loved the melody to "Walking in Integrity." In considering the words- "I do not sit with wicked men of lies... In you (J) i trust and in integrity I've trod... Examine Me and put me to the test... etc. " It is typical baosting session material about how great the JWs were/are. They might as well have sung "We are best; the world is going to die; they are not as good as we are." I still fijnd myself singing it as i drive down the road.

When I first read the thread's title I couldn't help but think that what many JWs have going for them is an uncanny ability to clean windows and mop floors-just saying!

Perks of reaching 50 and over!!!!!
by jam in1) kidnappers are not very interested in you.. 2) in a hostage situation you are likely to be.
released first.. 3) no one expects you to run anywhere.. 4) people call at 9pm (or 9am) and ask, did.

This thread reminded me of my youth. I was about ten years old and ended up with the Presiding overseer's wife in the FS. It was just her and I in her nice 4 door Mercury Marquise. To preserve her reputation, and looking back, so as not to tempt her with my ten year old virile manliness, I sat in the back seat all day long. It looked ridiculous but I knew Jehovah was pleased with our integrity.

The Apostle Paul wrote of his burden for his Jewish brothers to find Christ. Like Paul I wish that so many of the misdirected JWs might find rest in the grace of Jesus Christ. Now they have a satanic cult as their cruel taskmaster. How discouraging it is to do your best and always be told it is not good enough, God doesn't like you, nor does your cult leadership. In fact I hope the GB all wake up in the morning with prostates the size of cantaloupes.

If you are being held hostage in a failed marriage remember Jesus's words about the standards. Law of the OT. Hesaid he did not come to take away "one jot or tittle" from the Law. Under the Law you could divorce due to desertion, lack of "marital due", abuse. I am not at my desk to give scriptural proof but look for it and you will find a law that even Jesus said he would not change. I know this would never be good for the super spiritual elders or GB but maybe it will give a trapped one peace to make a good decision in a bad situation.
