007 I can appreciate your situation and hope that it eases up. I do want to thank all who posted for a reminder of the stupid things we lived through. ARe we not glad that we can laugh about them now. I remember just after I ahd gotten my glasses and depending on how the outside lights would shine on the lenses I could see my own eye reflectred in the lens; needless to say with my JW upbringing I was sure a demon was right there in my glasses. What a fool I was.

My anointed mother sleep over!! She hears demon creaking at night and my wife cheats on me!

my wife has her own buisness and works late so her holiness asked me to drive down to see if she was fornicating with anyone....she thinks two worldly people taking an elevator to the 10 floor would have had sex by the 5th floor....thats the quality of anionted alive today...she is not nuts a well respected pioneer nazi..... .

My longest lasting memory involves working an apt building over top a bar-basically a flophouse. An older man comes to the door without a shirt on; this reveals a growth in the middle of his chest that looks like an undeveloped twin that never saw life. I make the presentation all the while curious and horrified by his chest buddy. Finally its over and my buddy pipes in as we walk down the hall, "I don't know what it was but maybe we should have killed it before it grows." At that we break into hearty laughter for ten minutes and eventually just go home- day ruined by "chest boy."

I grew up not fearing old age
by Sour Grapes inas a teenage jw, i grew up believing that i was not going to finish high school nor would i get old and have to die like my grandparents did.
well, i did finish high school, as did my children and my grandchildren and old age has not been kind to me.
i don't like to look at pictures from 40 years ago, from a time when i was healthy and i had the goal of "stay alive till 75.

I was a member of my HS class of 1975. I just knew that by October of 75 it would be all over. i can identify with the various regrets expressed in this thread, but let me cheer you up with a thought that I have held onto for thirty + years. If we all didn't grow old we would never know the blessing of seeing our children and grandchildren become adults. In my case i am doubly thankful all my kids and grandkids were never scared by the cult!

What I think about the "We just love this idea" of David Splane
by Gorbatchov inthe jw.org video about the annual meeting contains david splane saying "we just love this idea", when talking about the adjusted fds doctrine.

when it becomes one of the fundament teachings of the organisational part of a religion, the rank-and-file witnesses are expected to be convinced about these kind of doctrines.

Over the years the odacity of the Gb has not surprised me. They think they are gods on earth. I must say this event takes the cake. Just looking for an opinion. Would you like to see the Gb rewarded with boils like in the Old Testament? Would you like to see them overdose on syrup of ipecac? Or would you just like to see them beaten down by a group of young "apostates"? They surely need a comeuppance.

"They are MAD you know"
by Phizzy ini was reading a bigraphical book where the guy writing visits salt lake city, he knew nothing about the lds/mormon church.
he described the people waliking about like "something out of the stepford wives" he found it a bit weird from the get go.. he then did a bit of research and does a really good summation of exactly how looney the beliefs are, one bit i liked was that in his view there was a line of people going back to j.c that was 2000 years long, back to joseph smith, 150. as he said, which sounds the more plausible?.
what got to me though was a friend of his came to work with him, and had to take taxi to get to the place and was stuck in the taxi for five hours with a mormon driver, upon joining the author he said "they are f***ing mad you know, mormons".. my question is, as i have not spoken to any normal person about jw's who does not know i was once one, do the folks in the normal world who know a bit about jw's see them as effin mad ?.

i had two Jw ladies stop at my house last week. One was about thirty-five and the other just out of high school. After the initial small talk the older one made the offer of the three different tracts they are using. She seemed shocked when she asked which one would interest me and i said, "none." i offered a few criticisms of her beliefs but what really struck me is that the older woman had these really crazy cult eyes. I could truly see her going off if her belief system was challenged for any length of time. Never noticed the crazy eyes in a JW before- just never noticed I guess. i believe they are all deficient.

Health - has anyone else suffered long lasting health effects from years with the Borg?
by Chariklo indoes anyone else feel or know that jehovah's witnesses damaged their health?.
i know many have emerged with depression, and i'm very relieved that i am not one of them.. but, being the age i am, (a large tribe of grandchildren) i was nonetheless pressured to go out door to door in steep countryside often in bad weather, and because i was doing my best to keep up that ended in an injury which has proved to be long lasting.. and that's not counting the stress-induced consequences...i won't cite them all here, but physical.
a few days in hospital and a summer spent on compulsory almost complete rest can all be laid at the watchtower's door.the trauma of actually extricating oneself from the borg is not stopped when one has finally written that letter that disassociates oneself from them.

newbie here - i need advice
by kassad84 inhello, i've been lurking in this forums for a while but its only now that i've created an account.
i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.
my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.

Welcome k84, I don't know how old you are but if you are between 12 and 25 and single it is perectly natural to like porn and masturbation. Be careful that porn doesn't warp your view of what is natural or common between a man and women but don't stress on a natural thing. But do go find a woman it is much better that way.
