As an organisation, they are unwilling to accept constructive criticism. They will not listen to reasonable feedback that can help the organisation to move forward and have created an atmosphere of fear as a result of this. Disfellowshipping and shunning anyone who dares to do so! They have deluded themselves into thinking this is the way it has always been and should not be changed.. ie we are the GB ( Gods channel of communication). We are right! We are not to be questioned....no matter what!! That is 'part' of their problem. -

Their biggest problem is the fact they have ultimate control over everything they teach and lay down as rules. Instead of doing what their publications were initially to do which was to build up a christians faith, they instead took over as it were and now have put themselves in a corner. -

If you get a chance, please ask him if he would welcome a members freedom to express their views when they believe something is clearly wrong or questionable, so that such feed back can be used constructively to benefit the organisation! -

Fisherman - every scenario is different. The Australian Royal Commission exposed many flaws in the one size fits all current safeguarding policy of the Watchtower and it's handling of matters involving an alleged crime. If elders are deeply concerned about an individual and the safety of its members, there are steps that can be taken to help reduce risk or danger. In most situations, the elders are legally bound by confidentiality which I entirely agree with; but they also have a duty of care to the congregation which is why in some cases have a legal duty (in compliance with the laws of the land) to share information with the authorities to protect its own members and the public at large. Doing nothing is why so many cases are now ending up in court and a reason why hearings and investigations are taking place into organisations like Watchtower to find out why there is a failure in reporting crimes such as child abuse to the authorities. -

Fisherman - Note: I meant to add that I see your point about how someone despicable as a child abuser who is repentant is entitled to spiritual confidentiality. However, right now, sadly I am much more suspicious toward other witnesses at my KH (for good reason btw) knowing that the possibility there just might be a person in the hall who has a history of allegations made against them, such as was highlighted at the ARC. Supposing a brother molested a number of children spanning 20 years, yet it was all kept 'inhouse', and that individual had never been reported to the police, because he denied it and because of the 2 witness rule policy. Yet he could be sitting feet away from my family at the KH, or he could be invited into our home or indeed out in the ministry with our child etc etc. Not knowing the danger that a prolific abuser is within your midst is too high risk in my mind. Watchtower needs a better safeguarding policy to deal with such issues effectively. -

Fisherman.....Confidentiality can be a tricky area and its understandable that the elders are bound by it in certain circumstances. But let's say hypothetically a young teenage girl discloses to the elders that a well respected brother in the hall has raped her lets say several months earlier. She asks them not to tell anyone...to keep it confidential. Yet clearly, they can tell she is telling the truth. They tell her she has the right to go to the police, but she says she won't. What should the elders do? Scenarios like this are happening all the time. That is why an effective safeguarding policy needs to be implemented by Watchtower so that all elders are clear about procedures particularly when an alleged crime has taken place. Keeping such information 'inhouse' does not give it's members much confidence in keeping children and vulnerable adults safe. Not only that, but failure to disclose such information to the police and social services may put children and vulnerable adults within the local area at risk too. The 2 witness rule works for many types of sins. Circumstantial evidence and other forms of evidence is required in many cases where child abuse has taken place. -

Question about visiting bethel ... akward moment at the end
by nevaagain insince there a couple of ex-bethelites here, and a lot of people from the greater ny area who have probably visited the bethel in brooklyn and patterson many times, maybe they can shed some light into this curious question we (my wife and me) have for awhile.. so a couple of years ago, we happaned to be in the states and also went to visit the bethels in brooklyn and patterson.
we had the full package, what i mean is, not only we took the tour, but we also had someone to invite us for lunch.
while we wanted to enjoy our stay there, there was always a weird feeling being there.

trey bundy: one year of reporting jw child abuse.
it’s been one year since trey bundy first reported the watchtower’s child abuse problems.. twelve months ago the center for investigative reporting (cir) began publishing information about jehovah’s witnesses and their cover-up of child sexual abuse on their website, reveal.

To Trey, your work is much appreciated in exposing Watchtowers fawed policy when it comes to safeguarding of children and all the cover ups. On the whole the rank and file JW past and present abhor child abuse and genuinely want better safeguarding measures in place. Your articles help identify that there is something clearly wrong as things stand and at last rightly gives a voice to the victims. The leadership are accountable and need to wake by showing they truly care about its members and stop trying to keep everything 'in house'. The 2 witness rule can be used for 'many' types of sin. It cannot in most cases be used for serious crimes such as child abuse. Circumstantial evidence and other types of evidence is required in most cases of child abuse. Thanks for exposing this flaw in WT policy Trey. TE -

Yep..where is Jesus? isn't it funny that first century Christians used to proclaim Jesus and our heavenly father at every opportunity. Today Jehovah's (Christian) Witnesses proclaim the Jehovah and the faithful discreet slave at every opportunity. Jesus now and again being mentioned of course.
