The serious answer: Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society, the legal name used in several forms by the related corporations whose members are known as "Jehovah's Witnesses". (For example, the WTB&TS of New York, WTB&TS of Pennsylvannia, etc.) There also is a related organization called "The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses".
Though it's not universal, many here will use "WTB&TS", "The Organization", etc. when speaking of the corporations who run the show, and "JWs" or "Witnesses" to refer to the individual members. (These are the more polite forms.)
as i have posted, my daughter ali has been in the cardiac intensive care unit since thursday.
her bp, heartrate and blood sugar went sky high, due to horrible coughing spells from a chest cold that left her gasping for air.. she has congestive heart failure, and has been treated for almost a year now.
she has improved over that year, but this was a real setback.. ali called me today with amazing news.
That's great news about Ali! I can't say good enough things about her cardiologist--may there be many more like him.

she did not like that analogy either...so i have started the painful process...the building is going to burn to the ground now....and i will never put her through that fingers in ears thing again.... and i will be fair and reasonable....and pay her the alimony and give her half....i could so be a satan to her in divorce....but i won't!...i can at least prove to them all that i am decent man...and not mentally diseased or satan.....and ahhhhh i feel good about that....plus both my boys are free now...

Oompa, I'm sorry you're going through this. It hurts, and there are no winners in the game--only survivors. Keep on being that decent man. You might give up the companionship and half the assets, but don't let anybody take your self-respect.
Practical advice: if at possible, start negotiating the settlement with her now. The more you agree on in advance the less you'll spend on lawyers, and the sooner it's over the sooner you can both start healing.

So it was, so it is. She's my best friend and we probably will grow old together in the same house anyway so the details are irrelevant at this point.
That means you're doing better than many couples--in particular, being able to talk and really listen to each other.
In other words, you do good work too--she'd probably still be "in", if not for your good influence!
did any of you guys have these at your book study?.
Ex's study group had regular "treat nights", right up until the book studies were moved out of private homes and combined with the TMS meetings at the Kingdom Hall. That was a shame, she and the kids looked forward to it and had fun making new things to share when it was their turn to bring the goodies. Another innocent pleasure gone; yet agian it becomes more and more like working for Ebenezer Scrooge, Inc.
some here have had the bonus of their mate leaving with them.

As far as sinning, thats the only way she can move on and do EVERYTHING she wants to do. You know how that will hinder her unless she has legal and scriptural grounds for divorce
Nothing obligates you to do something you don't want to do and believe is wrong, just to accommodate choices she wants to make. Her desire to be the wife of a "spiritually strong brother" does not obligate you to go "sinning" just to appease the Watchtower pharisees. Don't burden yourself with all the blame; she is reponsible for her share, and must accept the consequences that come with her own choices.
Further comment and opinion...please decide for yourself if you want to use this approach! The Watchtower uses Matt 5:31-32 and Matt 19:9 to justify their rules. If she or the elders pressure you about "scriptural grounds", cite Mark 10:5-12 and Luke 16:18. These Gospels do not allow the Watchtower's interpretation. Matthew's Gospel uses the Greek word "porneia"--which sometimes means "fornication" or "adultery", but also can be other forms of immorality (such as "incest"). Some translators word this so that Jesus does not advocate that one wrong (adultery) justifies another (divorce), by translating "porneia" as "illicit marriage" or "the marriage is unlawful" in this context. In other words, divorce is allowed only when the marriage itself constitutes an immoral act, so that divorce would rectify the sin--not compound it.

I'm sorry that Ali ia hurting again. Bronchitis and pacemaker problems, that's a lot for somebody so young to be dealing with! I hope she will recvoer soon.
