I didn't get a chance to watch it, but did read the results in the paper. Short summary: Cadel Evans attacked on the first hill, Wiggins matched every attack. Evans could not hold the pace to end.
After Friday's stage [LA Times], Wiggins leads Millar by just over two minutes, and Evans is in fourth overall more than three minutes behind.

Wiggins is looking tough to beat now. He's left Cadel Evans quite a way back. (disclaimer: I haven't yet seen today's redults)

In the US, it was intense competition. What Blockbuster did to the small independent rental stores about a decade ago, Netflix, Redbox, and on-demand pay-per-view are now doing to Blockbuster. They are no longer the cheapest, nor the most convenient, nor do they have a better selection.

Could Assemblies Be Wrecked?
by metatron inassemblies at the reading pa. assembly hall are getting disrupted repeatedly by somebody who keeps pulling fire alarms.
many witlesses blame it on "apostates" - rather than the dissolute teenagers who used to do such things in my day.. there are lots of things that so-called 'apostates' may do to disrupt assemblies including bomb threats phoned in, swat teams called, printed green insults stuffed into collection boxes etc.
add prohibitions against strollers and you have lots of reasons not to attend and thereby avoid the annoyances.

They manage to wreck them pretty well all by themselves.

I'm not sure how many contenders are still in one piece and have enough team members left to support them, after all those crashes on Friday. But Cadel Evans is one who did make it through OK, so his prospects for a repeat are looking good.
Now Taylor Phinney's decision to sit out le Tour and concentrate on the Olympics is looking like a wise move. Many riders will arrive in London tired and hurt after this tour!

A total of 322 Witnesses and 87 453 non-Witnesses underwent cardiac surgery
Was this a valid sample, or unintentionally self-selected cases not comparable to the population at large? Are the Witness cases generally a lower risk group?
Besides being non-smokers and typically employed in lower stress occupations (thus lower cardiac risk in the first place), would the Witnesses who know they are high risk cases (because of anemia, advanced age, general ill health, more radical surgery required, etc.) avoid surgery altogether, because they know they must not have a transfusion if things went wrong?

A hall near where I live has framing and trim that look like openings for windows, but the openings are closed off with siding. It's quite visible from the street and the outdoor tables at the Starbucks next door. IMO, it makes the building look shabby and spoils all the hard work they obviously do keeping it clean, nicely painted, and tending the landscaping.
It's a shame. This would be an attractive building, but having no windows makes it look like a warehouse.
