It's working OK for me, but it's later now and traffic is lighter.

Does it matter, as long as I get my house repaired and it doesn't cost me a cent.
Some of the houses he worked on, the owners had no insurance and were very low income. I don't know who paid for those materials.
... it was a provledge that they donate the insurance money "to help rebuild others homes".
Putting the pieces together, from the insurance companies' point of view (including the National Flood Insurance Program, i.e. taxpayers) they are paying to restore property that was not covered by an insurance policy, for which premiums have not been paid. I'll leave it to the lawyers to opine whether or not this is legal, but it certainly is unethical!

Incidentally, Garcia was in a band called the Warlocks before the GD.
It was the same band; somebody else was using the name "Warlocks" so they chose another.
The origin of the name "Grateful Dead" would give a Witness fits almost as much as "Warlocks" (an immortal soul, etc.). From Wiki:
Grateful dead (or grateful ghost) is a folktale present in many cultures throughout the world. The most common story involves a traveler who encounters a corpse of someone who never received a proper burial, typically stemming from an unpaid debt. The traveler then either pays off the dead person's debt or pays for burial. The traveler is later rewarded or has their life saved by a person or animal who is actually the soul of the dead person...

I do not understand... How does the theory about when Jerusalem was destroyed relate to the JW?
by FingersCrossed incan someone please tell me in the simplest ways?
thanks.

You can read about this at JWFacts, among other places.
The Watchtower uses vaguely-Bible-based dating, starting at the fall of Jerusalem, to show that Jesus returned (invisibly) in 1914 to inspect their organization and then approve it as the only True Religion in 1919. But that works only if Jerusalem fell in 607 BC (as the Watchtower claims), not 587 BC (as accepted by historians).

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrate Thanksgiving?
Because they're too busy working the territory on a day when most people will be at home. I drove past a KH on the way to the grocery store this morning, and there were cars parked in the lot. We know they weren't there for a special Thanksgiving worship service. We know they aren't helping make dinner for the homeless shelter. We know they won't get a warm reception from many of the people they disturb today. But to show their loyalty to the WTBTS, they go out there, getting in their hours on a holiday. I pity them!

Remember what the holiday is about, as Licoln eloquently stated it 149 years ago:
The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a nature that they can not fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign states to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict, while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plow, the shuttle, or the ship; the ax has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well as the iron and coal as of our precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battlefield, and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the imposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the divine purpose, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity, and union. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed. Done at the city of Washington, this 3d day of October, A.D. 1863, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-eighth.

Even if the religion is stupid -- and it is -- he sounds like a decent old duffer who went through some terrible times.
Yes, he does. There are many decent people in the Watchtower Organization. Treat the members according to who they are and what they do, not for the sins of the Bethel elite.

New James Bond Film: Skyfall

the opening sequence was a real thrill, one of the best.

Saw it last weekend, and liked it. Like most Bond films, reality took a back seat to showmanship. And a good show it was!

Judith was a legendary bad-ass. When the male leaders were fearful and ready to capitulate to Nebuchadnezzar's general Holoferenes, she took matters into her own hands. She doffed her widow's garb of mourning and donned her finest clothes, went to the enemy camp "seeking refuge." There she enticed the opposing commander, and his drunken delusion he brought her to his tent thinking she desired him. Instead, she beheaded him with his own sword, returned to the Isrealite camp carrying his head as a trophy. Her taking of Holofernes rallied the Israelite warriors to rout the invaders.
For their mighty one did not fall by young men, neither did the sons of Titan strike him, nor tall giants oppose themselves to him, but Judith the daughter of Merari weakened him with the beauty of her face.
