know where in the bible will you find christian religions being condemned for teaching the trinity or hell fire doctrines, but you will find jesus condemning those that come as messiah's or christs (both mean anointed) and declaring 'the time is near'.
you will also find paul cursing anyone that preaches a gospel different then the apostles preached as well as cursing those that change or add to the bible.
oh darn jw's thats you, you fit the bill in all of these!!!!!!
How do Jehovah's Witnesses preach a gospel different than the apostles?
The Watchtower has a teaching different than the apostle John wrote in chapter 6 of his Gospel. Every year at the "memorial", the Watchtower teaches emphatically that the rank-and-file must not partake, but will nevertheless enjoy eternal life. But John, quoting Jesus, says that all believers must partake if they are to share in His eternal life:
" 'I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.'
Then the Jews started arguing with one another: 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?' they said. Jesus replied:
'I tell you most solemnly, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you will not have life in you. Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is real food, and my blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him.' "

after some considerable thought i have decided that i will no longer post on this forum because i want to return to jehovah.
thank you for all the kindness and many interesting discussions over the years.
i wish you all well in the future and the decisions you make.
I hope your life turns out well. If not, if the Brothers and Sisters turn on you, we will always welcome you back. Unconditionally.
Farewell, SlimBoy!
i don't want to alarm anybody but the i have heard that the watchtower legal team has made threat to have various websites shut down for leaking important documents out to the public and to its various members of the christian congregation.
has anyone else heard this?
.
jgnat: This site has profiled several Jehovah's Witnesses who were lawyers too. In at least one case, the WTBTS paid for their education.
There have been female lawyers on the Watchtower staff, too. Carolyn Wah testified that she helped prepare the "Preparing for Child Custody Cases" publication: [with a tip of the hat to Compound Complex]
Watchtower legal battles have “become so common [that] they offer its followers a pamphlet entitled ‘Preparing for Child Custody Cases’ (Montgomery, 1992, p. 14)” intended for Witnesses facing court custody battles. The booklet, which openly advocates deception and advises Witnesses to deceive the court, was
… designed for their internal use in helping their members prepare to discuss custody matters in divorce hearings [and] encourages Witness children, under oath, to present a distorted view of the opportunities that a Witness child has to assume a place in the larger world. An example of this is the comment in this publication that Witness children could become journalists (a vocation requiring a college degree), when attending college is at best strongly discouraged, and at worst condemned by the Witnesses as a vehicle by which Witness children can lose their faith and be subjected to immoral association (Duron, 1991, p. 18).
Court testimony states:
Watchtower attorney Wah also stated under oath that she assisted the Society in writing the booklet Preparing for Child Custody Cases in about 1986, and admitted the booklet was produced because of a growing concern about articles published in the social science and psychological literature by Watchtower critics that were detrimental to the Society’s interests.
--not a big screaming deal, but the heading at the top right of the page is wrong here:.

It kills readability
...as do all the gratuitous accent marks and syllable divisions in the middle of words. It looks like it was meant to make an impression, not to be read.
greetings, soup lovers:.
i have a huge kitchen at my disposal (not my own); vegetables, cans of this and that and spices are scattered about, prepared to go into a cauldron of minestrone i started a few days ago.
i'm preparing ahead so as to freeze the leftovers to heat up later at home over my hotplate.. nothing like a 6-burner gas range to simmer over!.
I get lazy cooking only for myself, but I do make a few pots of soup during the cold season. I go with the crock pot, let it simmer on low until nicely done. Leftovers go into the freezer; one batch lasts for two or three weeks.
what the heck are they?
should i learn more about them?
do you think there will be career opportunities?
What are they for?
They are great for making one-of-a-kind items and low volume production parts--prototypes and experimental designs. Among other things, a 3-D printed part can be used as the master to make molds for sand-castings. With the right (professional) equipment, it's faster and less expensive than making metal tools for high-colume production in a machine shop. For limited quantities the final parts can be of equal quality (until the plastic master wears down--which is why high-volume production tools aren't made of plastic).
Heavy doors, no windows, minimal decoration: that place is as drab as a Kingdom Hall!
are they simply trying to make their bible more readable, or do you think there is a more sinister motive?.
It may sound silly, but one thing a new NWT with a distinctive new color cover does, is to identify those who are on board with Corporate Policy. An updated Witness ID card, as it were.
an examination of genesis 3:6.... .
in the 2013 nwt we read: "consequently, the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something desirable to the eyes, yes, the tree was pleasing to look at.".
in the douay-rheims bible we read: "and the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold".
New Jerusalem Bible uses both senses in the translation:
The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for the wisdom that it could give...
Likewise, the RSV (Catholic edition) translates it as:
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise...
