  IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

  so oompa got df'd this week...

  no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.

  wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.

  my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

  Oompah, I gotta hand it to your wife. She did the right thing by signing for the transfusions for your second round of surgeries, and she knew what she was getting into by doing that. Show her you love her, hang on to a woman like that!

  Its a Year!

  i know that this is not a new topic, or that important really.

  however, it's now been a full year since we last attended any meetings or went out in fs.

  just felt good today and jwn has been a great source of encouragement over the year.

  helpppppp please

  so im in a predicament and seeking help from a few of you willing to make a phone call tommorow to the society during office hours.

  ok so im here in pineville louisiana but were going to be frozen over as of tommorow night and friday night with snow ice and sleet.

  the pipes on our house rboke yesterday because we also had a storm yesterday and the pipes broke overnite so now we have a mes.

  If you have a source of drinking and hand-washing water, stay home and clean up the mess. If not, find a nearby motel and sleep there while you clean up the mess. Get the water cleaned up and everything dried out ASAP, the longer you leave it wet the more likely you are to have mold and mildew problems. Don't let your house and property get ruined by mold while you're sitting there listening to a talk.

  It won't help for me to call them, I'm an "opposer" so they won't listen to me!

  How do you view the people you left behind?

  but now, i like to think about the good times we had.

  i like to think about their attributes i admired.

  True, the uniforms are a dead giveaway.

  Be careful--high school debaters also wears suits and ties on Saturdays, and carry around briefcases for their debate case material. Watch carefully to see if they mind their own business--that would be the debate team, and they are generally harmless. Don't harrass them, they be your government officials about ten years from now!

  my girlfriend was raised in the midst of jws.

  she never went to the kh while we dated but she did attend assemblies once a year.

  birthday celebrations were never an issue for us.

  Jamie is right on both posts. I've been down those roads, and urge you to not follow. Don't bring children into the marriage until and unless both parents are on the same page for how they will raise them. Rearing children is stressful enough without having to deal with the WT pressure on every parental decision.

  When children come, she will be pressed to go straight to the KH with them in tow--she can't deny the kids a moral, theocratic upbringing, or else they'll be destroyed on A-Day. And the same goes for her, if she doesn't raise them as good JWs. And the same (if not worse) for you, if you aren't supportive enough--i.e., baptized, attending every meeting, on service every Saturday, and "reaching out" for advancement in the congregation. She may want to quit working so she can "stay at home with the kids"--translation, take them out on weekday field service and build up those service hours. The kids can only have other JW kids as friends--you musn't let them get entangled with any "bad associations" like scouts, 4H, sports or clubs.

  You need to be honest with each other, shore up the marriage bonds, make meaningful agreements, and respect each others' boundaries. It can't be one-sided, but with the WT pressure on your wife it will take a lot of effort to prevent that. But if you don't, can it really be a marriage partnership?

  As for her birthday, follow her lead whether to be high-key or low-key about it, but "nothing" is a poor option even if she says that's what she wants (think "no-winscenario"). Look for ways to tell her she's special to you that don't exclaim"Happy Birthday", but don't ignore it completely either.

  in the process watchtower praised the selfless act of donating blood to save a life.

  i've noticed quite a few dissidents of jehovah's organization that have left with some fixation on jehovah's witnesses concept of new light.

  i really don't understand.

  the antiquity of religion may be historically educational, but not always personally illuminating.

  I've read enough of the Bible to back the things I say.

  I suggest that you do read the entire Bible, in context, to appreciate the scriptures on their own merit. If you did, you would know answers to questions like "What, or rather who is the source of spiritual light?" For those who read the entire Bible, there is no need to guess: we know the Gospel of John tells us many times the Light is the Word, who is Jesus Christ (quotations are from the New Jerusalem Bible):

  A man came, sent by God. His name was John. [7] He came as a witness, to bear witness to the light, so that everyone might believe through him. [8] He was not the light, he was to bear witness to the light. [9]The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world. John 1:6-9

  When Jesus spoke to the people again, he said: I am the light of the world; anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

  As long as I am in the world I am the light of the world. John 9:5

  I have come into the world as light, to prevent anyone who believes in me from staying in the dark any more. John 12:46

  If we seek the light, where does the Bible say we should look: to the Lord, or to a 19th century publishing company in Brooklyn?

  Yes. I also believe this comes of a relationship built day by day, every day--it's not something that "just happens", it's something two people make happen together. That's where "one"comes in--if you're only in it until a better offer comes along, for "better" but not for "worse", you're only involved--not committed.
