"does hell exist?" ... not the right question imho. the real question is: "what does it matter if it does?"

"sweet" story from dub land( will make anyone else cringe with horror)
by highdose inwhy take notes at meetings.
a little girl and her family were on their way to the kingdom hall.. half-way into the trip, the little girl shouted: "stop!
" the father asked: "why?

the funny thing is that the family most likely weren't dubs ... like all these vomitous stories, it was probably pirated from the mormons or something

If you were for real, you wouldn't talk like you do. My guess is that you are a boring pimple faced goofball who likes to make himself laugh for your own amusement. (i.e. "HAHA! Look! I got apostates upset! LOL!")
dammit jeff! you made me snarf my soda LOL

Why do Ex-JWs start celebrating pagan Christmas?
by DubR inhiya guys and gals.
im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??
it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!

guess god should've put a warning label on xmas trees ...

Women as second class citizens
by iMARX ini don't know about anyone else, but even when i was 14 or 15 i had an issue with the fact that women are weaker vessels than men and we are to be submissive to our "head" of the house etc.... people just assumed i was a moody teenager trying to be cool by disagreeing with those scriptures but i was a feminist in the making.. i even asked an elder's wife about it and i said to her: "you're a headstrong woman, how do you feel about this?
do you think you should succumb to paul's every word and do as he says all the time??".
she replied: "i hate that scripture too sarah.

i always hated it ... and i'm not a woman. i prefer the company of women over men - dunno why, just do.
and i truly believe that women are the stronger of the species. if reproduction was up to men, we'd have died out eons ago. i whine for hours when i get a paper cut ... can you imagine men carrying babies to term then giving birth? o.O

The phrase "The Truth"
by lepermessiah inso, i am curious..... how many of you have a hard time getting that phrase out of your vocabulary?.
i have been conscienciously trying not to use it at all, so now when i am in a conversation with a jw, its amazing how often they use that phrase.
i look back and wonder "god, did i say that that often?

i dont use that word in conjunction with anything dubbish ... took awhile to break the habit ... but now that i'm not deluded anymore, no sense in combining those terms

"IF"
by acolytes inmost christians assume that the gift of salvation is free.. but gods promises are very conditional and the word "if" is used nearly 1600times in the bible.. the bible is an "iffy" book and the promises of god very conditional.. i would be interested in a christian perspective as to why they think salvation is a free gift-.
acolytes.

Greetings
by AggieNostic infirst new topic for me.. i have observed this site for about 4 years.
haven't been to a meeting since oct 2005. definitely feel jws are a high control group that mirrors many of the definitions of a cult.. i was raised as a witness since age 5, left at age 38, now 43. happily married to a wonderful woman for 24 years, except for 1 year of separation when i was failing miserable in a search for my true self - hard to do when you were completely sucked into this religion.
yes, i was a true believer pretty much up into my late 30s.
