i do know of a case where a mother was disaplined for speaking to her DF'd son and daughter in law. Her exhuse? they had just had her first grandchild and she wanted to support them. The reaction? she was marked, disaplined and then treated in the congo like a Df'd person herself.

Elder Book: Don't DF JWs who talk to DFed family. Usually. Your take?
by Open mind inif you've been reading here for long, this won't come as news to you.. i don't have my elder book with me right now, but here's the gist of what it says about what the elders should do when they find out a jw talked to a dfed family member.. 'generally, disfellowshiping is not necessary when a congregation member speaks to a close relative who is dfed.
provided there is no condoning or justifying of the wrong course.'.
that is a paraphrase, but i'm pretty sure that "justifying of the wrong course" is close to verbatim.. two questions:.

heres an idea for a reform... how about the JW's try to act in a loving manner, as christains are indeed supposed to? now i would love to see this happen.
They bang on so much about agape love, but never practice it. Its all academic.
And by the way, in modern greek, agape just means love, thats it and quiet frankly thats all you need pure and simple

in my experinace of the JW's it was the nasty people who got most freinds. But in the real world it works the other way around.
I do belive that you get back from the universe what you give to it

ok guys lets not get to negative here. We have to recognise that in this case the JW's did try to reach out, which lets face it is pretty unheard of for most of us.
So... i think we should receprecate with a pack of our own " Take your life back from this insane cult" pack. whattya think eh?

My question is this, would you wear such a thing as a evil eye charm or say a cross now? and if so why? I personly love my charm braclets but would never wear a cross as it represents religon to me, not sure about the evil eye thing though...;)

Thoughts on NOT dating
by wantstoleave injust throwing some thoughts out there.
wondering if anyone feels the same as i do.
you know, being brought up not being allowed to date until you were 'of marrying age'.
-
tigeress
an utterly warped way of thinking. So much for getting to know someone first. The JW way ensures that you have no idea who it is that you are marrying. i often wonder if that was the whole point? otherwise would anyone get married in the borg?
For myself i find its just best to be yourself with the opposite sex, people respond and appreciate honestly and they seem to know when you are being genuine. I think a trap that alot of us EX JW's can fall into is imagening that the rest of the normal world will judge us and think as badly of us as the JW's did. However nothing could be further from the truth, people in the real world actauly don't think like that. They do not go around judging others, in fact they wouldn't dream of it.
Anyway if you are thinking of leaving the JW's you will find this out for yourself. The only word of advice i would say is give yourself some time to come to terms with your new life and new way of thinking before you start dating. Find yourself first and then the rest, love etc will follow
