First Post - Emotionally Torn

i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.

i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .

i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

JWN is a great place to speak your mind, grow, develop and trade tips and advice.

It is a little hard to give specific advice until we know you and your circumstances better.

Having never been in the US it is also hard to work out your age too.

Wikipedia does help much either: "In the United States, a sophomore is a student in the second year of study at high school or university."

At any rate if you are at school you may have to explore if and how you and your parents could reach a truce.

However when we are adults it is crucially important to be true to ourselves and our beliefs (if we are to avoid Cognitive Dissonance and resulting illnesses).

What are the possibilities of living with your brother/s?

Your parents have assumed they are right and you are wrong.

As a SBNR (Spiritual But Not Religious) person of faith (and an exJW) I have one question for your parents: "Is it honest to call ourselves 'Publishers of the Good News' whilst unfamiliar with the Good News according to Paul?"

One thing about this site that bothers me

the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.

but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.

one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

Too true.

Maybe we should instead be focussing on the hounders' (Pharisees') giant sized arrogant attitudes which seem way out of kilter with the image of humble workers ("slaves") that they hypocritically seem to want to project, whilst glorying in their draconian power and authority over the contemptible "laity class" of "dumb sheeple".

Any ideas for my return visit?

i had a really fun day today.

i went to town on first call to witness to the jws on the trolley outside the main train station in the city.

i had prepared two different presentations depending on whether or not the jws knew me.. if they knew me i planned to tell them how unjust my last jc was and that i didn't believe jehovah cared about me or anyone, and if they didin't know me i would just question them about their disfellowshipping policy.

The only way they can seem right is if they discredit their detractors (us).

Whilst they remain committed to maintaining the charade and deception they have no choice...

yup, the apostate is happy.

i shouldn't be, right, because my life is empty without "jehovah" and the organisation.. but i just got a job at one of the best theme parks in the world, which is so what i want to do, and it's the first permanent job i've had since i lost my government job in 2012!.

the job pays minimum wage but i don't care because working in tourism and entertainment is what i want to do!

Anti JW Internet Banner Ad Campaign

i would be willing to donate if some of the big anti watchtower activist worked together to create an anti-jw internet banner ad campaign.

one click could change lives.

for example the material on jwfacts could irreversibly damage the faith of even the strongest jw in under an hour.

One way to get started right away is DIY until others "get it" and want "in".

Not too hard to get a banner designed and hosted with links to JWfacts and possibly your own webpage.

What is spirit, exactly?

i've always wondered that.

recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.

cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

As my faith journey unfolds I am learning that our intangible spirit connects us with higher powers and higher intelligences from higher dimensions (beyond our 3 dimensional world).

It is in our spirit that we "hear" or actually discern the "living word" behind the "written word". Our spirit facilitates higher learning where we come to "know" and understand things over and above what we learn through our 5 senses.

Watchman Nee (1930-1972) explained the spirit has three main functions or attributes: conscience, intuition and communion (fellowship).

Welcome monis1.

Possibly you could ask your husband to explain "legalism" to you (from the Watchtower library).

The word appears only once in the entire wt library (2012).

The article (g79 6/8 pp. 27-28) is really great and reads like a summary of Ray Franz' book "In Search of Christian Freedom".

You could also ask: "Is legalism apostasy?" (Yes it is and the WBTS is guilty as sin).

This new donation direction and true selfishness!

so we all know about this new donation arrangement.?.

every cong is supposed to send in all their savings to the society for them to allocate or use however they see fit worldwide.. but here is where true "selfishness" has become apparent!

(remember just this last weekend the wt study was all about not being "selfish" or self willed??!!).
