I have often seen JW`s supposed beleif of 1925 as the end .....It`s not what I remember
by smiddy ini could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .
the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.
these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.

If non-anointed JW's are now "domestics" then they must also be in "the household of God" - Eph 2:19
by yadda yadda 2 inthe new light from 2012 summarized on jw.org:.
who are the domestics?.
jesus said that his domestics would receive food at the proper time.all genuine followers of jesus are fed by the faithful and discreet slave.

YY2 I'll bet the Sanhedrin would pay good coin for the right to use the masterful "New Light" above.
But only if they think they won't get away with plagiarism...

Elder and CO just dropped by....
by El_Guapo ini haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.
the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.
i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

It is always a delight to read about a Pharisee being called out so elegantly.
Well done.
(John 13:35) . . .By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have [a pretense of] love among yourselves.. . . ( rrNWT )

Just an amusing thought today and wondered if it ever been tried.
by joe134cd ini was thinking today if anyone has ever tried this.
has any apostate ever sent a registered letter inviting the elders to a judicial committie, to state the reasons of why an apostate should remain as one of jehovahs witnesses.
perhaps the letter could read as follows.. to the body of elders.

The Pharisees' power, authority and control is illegitimate and an illusion.
Eventually some out of the box thinking like this will be their undoing.
Remember Martin Luther, almost 500 years ago, and how this one person permanently weakened the stranglehold of religion on society.

Could i possily be one of the sealed?
by msconcerned ini went to the meeting last night, (with the start of a beard) and going throught he book study i had a thought.
god our "heavenly father" wants us to have a personal relationship with him because he is love.
well my brain disconnected from this thinking because if the bible was "written primarily for the anointed" and the benefits in the bible can only be mine because of "association" with the anointed, then i can never have a personal relationship with god or jesus.

"The anointed" = "ho Kristos" = "the Christ". Not humans. Always translated this way even in NWT.
144,000 is not a literal number.
Bible written for everyone, even the New Covenant scriptures.
No limit to who can be part of New Covenant.
(Ephesians 4:4-6) . . .One body there is, and one spirit, even as YOU were called in the one hope to which YOU were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all [persons], who is over all and through all and in all.
(John 10:16) . . .“And I have other sheep [the Gentiles], which are not of this fold [the Jews]; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.

Should I meet with the elders?
by winnie12 inso i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.
i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.
i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

It almost always ends badly.
You have begun to see things they are not ready to.
And they are always right no matter how wrong they are.
At any rate if you really must...
Never meet with more than one elder (3 is always a Judging Committee, no matter what lies they tell you to trick you into attending).
Only meet with this elder if he agrees to your mom being present, and that the purpose is for you to ask questions, and for him to provide satisfying answers.
Never allow him to ask questions and put you on the back foot and on the defensive.
Keep asking him to clarify and prove from scripture.

The Biggest Fear From The Watchtower Organization Is ???
by minimus ini think the organization is worried most about how jws will stay loyal to their families even as it rejects the admonition of the gb and elders..
-
Fernando
Because the fear losing Control Of Jehovahs Witnesses "Every" Decision, as Outlaw said,
there is nothing they fear more than explicit focus on the liberating "unabridged gospel" of grace.
Even if studied only from the Watchtower library.

Once 'saved' always 'saved'.
by punkofnice inin case i didn't mention it...i was born into the disgusting cult of the watchtower(r).. i left when i was as old as 50 and went to a baptist church, then when i moved house to anglican and finally to a pentecostal church.. i now do not believe in 'god' of any variety.
i do not believe because i see no obvious evidence for a 'god' and only see what people have made of 'god' in their delusions.. ok. so, the question: 'what if you're wrong?'.
well, i might be wrong about a lot but if qi and mythbusters taught me anything it's not to be so gullible mcfly!

Being legally saved is a "free gift" that cannot be earned, deserved or paid for.
One imagines the only way to lose salvation granted on such generous terms is to actively reject it - like the Pharisees, who pursue a competing religious agenda and kingdom (fiefdom).
Salvation is a process that unfolds in stages:
I have been saved from the authority of Satan, sin (dysfunction), sickness, suffering and death.
I am being saved from the power of Satan, sin (dysfunction), sickness, suffering and death.
I will be saved from the presence of Satan, sin (dysfunction), sickness, suffering and death.
