JWs consider the Memorial service the most important meeting of the year. There are some disfellowshipped folks that still believes the Watchtower?s theology, and attend the service. However, the Internet has exposed the Tower for what it is, and I suspect there are fewer former JWs trapped into the mindset of attending this event. You won?t find me there!

i worked with her for over a year, got hurt on the job and was recovering for about 5 months.

Hello PAJA -- You'll find many good suggestions here. When dealing with JW relationships, it's difficult to say what does or doesn't work. I find it interesting she didn't disclose her JW family and faith until several months into your relationship. When I was in high school, I dated a Catholic girl, and did the same thing. I think most young JWs are somewhat ashamed of the religion, but they are trapped into pleasing their family and JW community. Some here have suggested attending a few meeting with her, but I think that might encourage false hopes that you might join?even if you tell them you are not. My advise is to share what you?ve learned about the sect with her, and see what happens. Time will tell what happens to your relationship; it could help open her eyes or drive her away. Better to find that out now than a few years into a marriage. My best to you, friend!

What Caution Would You Recommend To New Posters On These Boards?
by minimus inthere's a lot of new ones here and they might not be familiar with the fact that not everyone is truthful or necessarily looking out for your best interests.....is there any thing a "newbie" or for that matter any of us should keep in mind while on the internet?

Trevor -- Thank you for the compliment; that was too kind. We've been around for several years, and as time goes by it's good seeing that others have found a healthy place to express their views. I really think most people on this forum are the "good guys." Yes, when the forum was smaller, we got to know each other a little better, and it felt like a "coffee shop." I used to sign off on each post with "JAVA -- counting time at the Coffee Shop." It's nice seeing some folks from years ago still posting.
Neo -- I'm a little slow, and it's taken years to become a Jedi Master. But after much hard work, and coaching from "the Force," I finally made it. I also love the little Jedi sword that comes with the job. I can't wait to use it the next time my beeper goes off.

If I'm terminally ill, with no chance to recover, I don't want to be kept alive artificially. I also believe I should be able to take something to ease the passing for me and any loved ones. I, too, wonder why we are willing to end of suffering of pets, but are not humane with our own kind.

Spend a little time reading posts before posting. Most people here are very sincere and willing to help or contribute to the forum. But like most groups, there are a few stinkers who enjoy egging others on, or being disruptive. It doesn't take long to see the good, bad, and ugly. I'm one of the good guys.
But . . . this is the best forum that focuses on life as a Witness, and the real life after the Tower! It can be very helpful, and continues to be so.

no one ever let their kids die
by jaffacake inmy soon to be baptised friend has started talking to me since i said i might study with jws.
he tells me some people really believe jws have let their kids die over the blood issue.
i suggested that may have been the case in the past but he says it is all lies.

And about 6-7 years ago there was a sister in Sunderland who died in childbirth after refusing a blood transfusion.
I knew a young mother that died during childbirth--she bled to death. That decision cost her her life, and left 3 children without a mother. I understand the doctor was really ticked off, and refuses to accept JW clients.
