I remember giving my mother shit once for using Magic Baking Powder.
That's too funny. If Lucky Charms Cereal is a no no, I wonder if some refuse to buy Quaker Oats?
this was influenced by the toy thread, but what were some of the foods, drinks and candy that were banned by the jws (either in writing or hearsay)?.
black forrest ham (coating is made from blood).
red skittles (blood used to make the dye).

when we last saw our hero he was..... alright, if you've been keeping up with the saga you know that during the week of april 11 i was deleted from the elder body.
i stepped aside on my own initiative.
you can read that thread for the non-specific generalities of my situation.. so far noone has said a word to me about it at the hall.
So far noone has said a word to me about it at the hall. It's really odd, like they're afraid to ask me about it. Don't get me wrong, they all say hi, how ya' doin'; they just don't go any deeper.
Listener -- I stepped aside as an elder many years ago, and fully understand what you're doing. It's a funny feeling being an elder one day, and not the next. Folks don't know how to treat you or what to say, and as a result, they typically don't say anything. That seems to be what you're experiencing.
When I did slow fade, only one elder stopped by for a visit--only one! However when my JW spouse turned me in for voting, they couldn't wait to have a little meeting. The one idiot said, "Brothers and sisters still speak so highly of you, and we can't allow that to continue." So don't be surprised if you don't see or hear much from the elders or others, because they don't know what to do or how to act when someone does what you're doing.

for you old timers, does anyone know who or where 'fred hall' is?
outaservice (h2o generation)
What the appeal of that jerk
S -- He was a pain in the rump, but for me, he was the class clown on the forum. You're right, Fred Hall is a jerk, and I didn't know he went too far with one of the members--we don't need that. But I still miss seeing him pop in and saying something stupid. I usually ignored him, but he always gave a good Watchtower witness. :)

I heard he's stuffed and fluffed and sits on Alan Feuerbacher's mantle.
Good one, Gary!
I've wondered whatever happened to Fred Hall, too. Maybe he was downsized when the Tower cut some of the dead wood from the farm. :)
whenever people tell me happy birthday tomorrow what do i say?
and the girl i took to prom well im still having some feelings for her and we seem to be getting along good.
id like to hang out with her because shes fun, but she has a bf now.
Okay tsunami -- it's a day after your birthday. Did anyone get beheaded or die in some other way? After all that honor and attention was focused on you, I'm sure the Watchtower needs to work extra hard getting everyones attention back to Brooklyn Jehovah. :)

you used to look so good at the pupit, in your sheep suit.
*old light, new light, psuedo light, night light* lights out, say your prayers.

Welcome to the forum, m. kirov. That's a great opening post, and I loved the first line!
her ladyship once told me that i reminded her of a loaf of bread that had only risen on one side.
now, many years later, i understand what she was saying to me.
i think that when you are brought up with very limited choices, such as experienced by those who are witnesses, your maturation process is severely impeded.
EM & LT -- You've demonstrated how we become rule followers as Witnesses, which requires leaving compassion and love behind. Looking back at what we did as JWs makes a normal person cry or vomit. Maybe, just maybe, we can become better people in the long run because we can clearly see what we don't want to ever do again.

So what do you say... Thanks :)
I think you've just signed onto this forum, and you're trying to highjack this thread, and use it to preach.
Highjacking threads is never in good taste* and preaching is not appreciated. You're new here, and you might not know that--now you do.

I just personally believe that we ought to take into consideration the fact that we have not yet been "born-again"(John 3:3), which would truly be a day to celebrate :)
I agree. We know god did such a rotten job the first time around, it's important to forget about that mess and move on to the second try. So when someone says, Happy Birthday, be sure to ask which one. The one god screwed up the first time, or his second try? :)
Good luck tsunami; it's not easy being young and in love. Most of us old farts forget what it was like, but I'm sure you'll do just fine. I wish you well, and many Happy Birthdays!
judging from the reports i'm hearing, there must be a lot of congregations in the us that.
are falling into the dreaded 30 -40 meeting attendance syndrome.
deadhead, do-nothing governing body has no reaction to this threat other than to encourage.
I don't keep up on the latest numbers, but if there is decreases, and Kingdom Halls need to be closed and downsized, it shows the power of the Internet. The Tower has experienced losses for short periods after some of their failed dates, but that's not the case today. The Watchtower Society can print all the crap and lies the presses can spit out, but they can't out run the power of the Internet.
