  Gary -- In 1966 I was 20 years old, and I wouldn't live to see the age of 30 "in this system of things." Your dear wife would return to full health, and be perfect like everyone alive after 1975. We would have a lot of work to do, but Jehovah would provide. The kids who witnessed children murdered because their parents were not JWs, would somehow smile and play with the lions. We would welcome back loved ones from the dead who were lucky fortunate enough to die before Armageddon.

  You're right, "it seemed so doable," and your lovely wife would be perfect by now. Where has the time gone, Gary? Our photos to the left of our words tells the story . . .

  Why do they walk so slowly?

  i have only to turn into any road or street and if there are any jws operating within my area of vision i can pick them out.. it may only be something that occurs in uk but they actually walk at half speed.

  yet if i see any local jw in the town shopping they fly along, except the very old ones.

  we are in the end of the end time.

  However fast or slow the counting-your-time walk is for the average JW, it's faster than members of the Governing Body--they seldom go door-to-door. It's a do as I say, and not as I do sect.

  i voted for the first time in today's british columbia provincial election.

  what an honour and what a priviledge to elect one's own representitive in the legislative assembly.

  Good for you, and unlike the United States, may all your votes count!

  I voted for the first time over 20 years ago, and have not missed voting since then. You now have the right to gripe if a politician isn't doing their job!

  How Much Time Did You Spend as a JW?

  i just got df'd last week and am unsure of how i feel about it.

  I'm glad you found a site where members what you're going through--I hope you feel welcome here. For a religion that requires followers to spend countless hours trying to convert new members, they don't know much about showing love to the folks called brothers and sisters! Shunning is nothing more than control and fear, and has nothing to do with love. I'm sorry you were df'd.

  Do you exercise or do anything special to physically look your best?

  i walk alot in the summer time, usually about 5 miles a day when it's nice.

  i never eat too much, so i don't gain weight.

  a few days ago, i bought 2 ten pound dumbells and elastic bands and hand grips at walmart... i exercise with that about an hour a day.

  About 4 years ago I was looking at some photos posted in a showcase where I work, and saw an overweight old fart in one picture. It was me! I joined the Y a few months later, and have been working out 5 or 6 times a week. I'm still an old fart, but I dropped the fat, and feel better. :)

  The book Crisis of Conscience

  i've just finished reading this book

  i was brought up in the society, seen the elder arrangement brought in, seen changes and in fighting - and finally sttof down as a snr circuit elder in england because of the abuse issue and the society covering up.

  i have also the seen the society flee and cya because of the data protection act in the uk.

  I assume that ex-JWs on this forum have already read CoC, and get taken back when I see threads like this. I ordered the book when it first came out after reading about Raymond Franz and his book in one of the US weekly news magazines. That was over 20 years ago, before the Internet and support groups like this. He did much of the writing for the Tower when he was on the GB, and that writing style is reflected in CoC (some like that style, and some don't). The book is sincere, factual, and written by a person that worked at the very top level of the Society. Beyond question, it's a must read!
  
  
  I wrote to Raymond a few weeks after reading CoC, and received a hand-typed letter and copies of items he thought I might enjoy reading. We wrote back and forth several times, and he invited me to his home. I still have those kind letters. He is a person of faith, and I am not, but I have the up most respect for him and what he's done. CoC is the Holy Grail of information about what went on behind closed doors of the Tower's Most Holy.

  It would be great showing the deep-thinking comments made during the Watchtower Study. I'm sure other religions would change their services right away in order to mimic the first-grade classroom JWs call "meat in due season." :)

  No longer innocent

  we are now approaching the year 2005, i am again going to all the meetings and most of my friends are jw's.

  however, i don't feel that 'love' for god, and i certainly don't feel that he listens when i pray, which i do every day.

  after talking about this with an elder, he suggested i study some more, and i am currently studying the book 'worship the true god'.

  JAVA, are we ever truly free? The seeds planted in our minds seem like mint in the garden. Once you plant it, you can't get rid of it because it keeps coming back.

  
  
  I believe we can become truly free in time if that's our goal. That doesn't mean we forget, because our history will always be our history. However, our past doesn?t need to be an out-of-control garden, because we can influence and control the thoughts from our past. You've been on this journey for 6 months and it will be interesting to see your next post on this topic 6 months from today. I think you'll see and feel the difference.

  do you remember any from your childhood?

  here's two.. one dark night when the moon was bright...two dead boys got up to fight...they lived on the corner in the middle of the block...in a two story house...on a vacant lot...back to back they faced each other...drew their swords and shot each other...a deaf policeman heard the noise and came and killed the two dead boys.. teacher, teacher don't wup me...wup that boy behind the tree...he stole the money and i stole the honey...ha, ha teacher ain't that funny.
