OHappyDay -- I guess you're right, the headline wasn't very objective. Maybe the reporter read one too many of the Tower's magazines and decided to report in the same fashion. :)
Most Jews, Catholics, and Baptists identify themselves as something else other than being for example a Catholic. A Jehovah Witness sees himself as a Jehovah Witness. Their identification is their religion and not much more. They are told that everything they do is a reflection on the religion. I guess the reporter took them at their word.
Any way one looks at it, this is a very sad story--what a shame.

A Bible-thumping Bronx man gunned down his estranged wife and then killed himself after accusing her of straying from their faith
It's interesting to see that the news report called the Jehovah Witness killer, a "Bible-thumping Bronx man." What a great testimony he left behind.
I wonder if the Bronx JWs will use this news in their door-to-door work as a sign that we're living in the last days?
if jws consider birthdays, christmas, and so forth pagan because of their origins, then perhaps jws shoud stop eating popcorn!.
popcorn history.
http://www.ht-express.com/howto-history-popcorn.htm popcorn was essential to 16th century aztec indian ceremonies, which bernardino de sahagun writes, and also a number of young women danced, having so vowed, a popcorn dance.
Pagan rituals and customs are in nearly everything we do from wedding rings to naming the days of the week (I guess we can now add popcorn). Picking out some as wrong and ignoring others is nothing more than gatekeeping. Cults are good at pointing out so-called pagan customs in order to show how good they are, thus everyone else is following the Great Satan.
i have a great business idea for you, your going to need to invest a small amount and get your friends involved and within a year or less you should not even have to work at all and just sit back and let the money roll in.
heard it, done it and for god's sake will people stop falling prey to these things.
amway and quickstar are the same company!
My in laws are now in some health multi-level marketing scheme, and I must say, Witness seem prone to it.
As the saying goes, "There's a sucker born every second," and JWs buying into pyramid scams proves that you can keep fooling the fool.

i say tuesday.................because it sounds like doomsday
Armageddon already happened, but it was invisible like Christ's return--that's why it's impossible to know what day of the week it occured.
i always hated the shepherding call where they asked you to try and spend more time in field service, as they saw your hours turned in were low.
at a young age, i learned how easy it was to just write down what ever felt right.
i spent about 30 hours a month in field service as a pioneer for two years and never had anyone say anything to me.
So fess up, who faked it tell you made it? I freely admit I did!!!
I believe most JWs would add a little to their reports, perhaps thinking they'll make it up next month or the month thereafter..........
While pioneering one summer, I rebuilt my car engine, and counted most of the time. Hey, if the folks in Brooklyn are considered full-time servants while doing factory jobs, I reasoned that a pioneer needed to keep the car running.
Many of us used to drop some old mags off at a nursing home first thing in the morning, have a long coffee break, make a few return visits, and 4 hours would show up for the effort. The fact is less than 15 minutes was spent taking to anyone. Great memories!
larc's family-placed obituary is in the sunday, 11/13/05 "dayton daily news.
"thornton, carl leonard 65 of oakwood, oh., passed away mon., nov. 7, 2005. carl retired as a tenured professor of organizational behavior from kettering university (formerly gmi), flint, mi., in 2000, having served there since 1986. from 1978-1986 carl was with the ncr corp., dayton, oh, last serving as director of training/development, engineering & manufacturing group, and was functionally responsible for the educational programs at 16 us manufacturing and 8 international locations of ncr.
from 1976-1978 he served as the executive director of personnel affairs, university of miami, fl.
HappyDad – Carl grew up in a JW family, but he wanted to go to college instead of being a window washer and pioneering. His first field of study was chemistry. He picked chemistry because it was safe, and wouldn’t offend his family and other JWs.
While at the college library he found a book with an interesting title called, “The True Believer” by Eric Hoffer. The book was written in 1951 about political extremists, but the subject matter could easily identify religious extremists, too. He read the book from cover to cover while sitting in the library. Carl told me that after reading Hoffer’s book the JW mindset was history. As can be seen in his obituary, his field of study changed. :)
Good one Golf, very funny!
HOW MANY JW'S DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHTBULB?
Only the Governing Body can change the light, but that number changes, too.

i have no idea whether other news organizations have received this communique, and, if so, why they have not chosen to print it.
