  in the past i've seen comments from witness apologist talking about the exwitness or apostate movement.

  people here are quick to come back with "there is no apostate movement.".

  my question is, why isnt there?

  S4 makes a good point. The media may not show much interest in insignificant groups like the Witnesses, but the widespread use of the Internet has helped more JWs and ex-JWs, and exposes the lies of the Tower. We could not buy enough media press to compete with what’s going on right here on JWD and other sights!

  We made a match of cookies that my spouse took to a holiday-cookie exchange. I can’t wait until she gets home with MORE cookies. :) Right now I’m sitting here with a laptop computer and a glass of red wine—life is good!

  jail for woman accused of beating a jehovah's witness

  december 9, 2005 1:21 pm the associated press

  san bruno, calif. three months in jail is the sentence for a california woman who used a butcher knife to beat a jehovah's witness, after the woman knocked on her door on christmas day.. cathy infusino also will spend three months in a work program and three years on probation.

  The news media and people in general are not that interested in Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Watchtower Society. Not unless a famous actor that claims to be a JW jumps up and down on network TV because he’s in love, or a group of JWs hold up in a compound until they get burned alive. The Tower is just not important to folks unless you’ve been there and been one.

  who threw your first birthday party after you left the organization, or did you throw it for yourself?

  my best friend threw mine, it was my 18th birthday.

  she made a huge homemade cake for me with all 18 candles and icing.

  I left the Tower when I was nearly 40, and never had an adult birthday party. A group of students at work surprised me with a birthday party that had decorations in the office, cake, and various gifts. That was my first birthday party after leaving. I had nothing to do with it, and it was the best one yet.

  why do people do it, join? ;

  Like most cults the Tower has The Answer for every question, and many people need to be spoon fed. This can be brought on by things like a death in the family, divorce, loss of employment, etc. Of course JW children have little control as to why they're JWs, until they grow up and wise up--that's why most of them leave.

  There are various reasons why folks join religious sects, but when they finally get their act together there are many good reasons to leave. Welcome to the JWD, force!

  Hot sisters (or brothers) in your cong...

  i was just wandering.... was it just me or was everyone thinking about it..... ive been in a few congs where some of the sisters were absolutely drop dead gorgeous!

  my last cong here in sydney, there was about 160 publishers so the talent was every where... i remember having the hots for this sister, who happens to be the wife of the service overseer... she was xxx hot.

  i remember always having to wear my suit coat to the meeting to hide my excitement.. i think all the bro's must have thought the same thing.

  There was a very hot sister in our congregation and I dated her one time. We went to her high-school senior prom, and she was the prom queen (chosen by her high-school class). Yeah, she was that good looking!

  We really didn't have much in common (beyond the religion) and I didn't call her for another date, and she didn't seem to mind either. I haven't though about her for many years until I saw this thread. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

  Will Jehovah prevent men from going to Mars?

  a few of the friends i have spoken to over the years seemed to think that jehovah would never allow man to leave the planet and visit another.. "we have to get this planet right first", they said.. i thought at the time, perhaps the furthest man would be allowed to go would be the moon.. recently, president bush announced a new space initiative for nasa - first the moon by 2017, then mars by 2020-2030.. what are your thoughts?.

  The question about Jehovah allowing or not allowing humans to travel to other plants brings back the stuff I heard from JWs in the 50’s and 60’s. I remember the guy having a so-called Bible study at our house saying, “Man will never travel to the moon, because Jehovah won’t allow it.” I can’t believe this type of thinking continues years after we landed on the moon. They open their mouth and remove all doubt.

  it has often been said that the jw organisation of today is far, far different to the organisation that ct russell set up, both in beliefs and teachings as well as administration.

  i've even heard it said that if ctr were alive today, he would be disfellowshipped for all manner of 'offences' as proscribed by the modern-day wts!

  so, if it were possible for you to ask ctr just one question, what would it be?

  The Tower should start selling magazines at Wal-Mart, thus insuring they would be printed in China. Exploited workers in China work 12-hours a day for $3.00. That seems to be the American thing to do. :(
