It's a sign that Jehovah has truly blessed His people! Thanks for the info Zack. It's always nice getting information about how the Tower is growing.

Just thinking out loud.....
by schne_belly ini was born and raised a jw.
however over the last year my husband and i gradually have faded away.
several times weve had discussions with my parents, whom are both in, regarding our disgust for the org and the reason for our decision to leave.

In many ways it sounds like your JW parents are heads and shoulders above many in the Tower. Be as positive and loving as you can with them, while understanding the pressure the Tower puts on them to treat you like dirt. Hopefully in the end true love will continue to bring you together.

by LyinEyes inso many of you have touched my heart by reaching out to me in this sad and lost time i am going thru.
losing my sister , in this way is what i have been so afraid of for so long.
it is unreal to watch the past repeat itself and to feel helpless after all is said and done , although i know i did all i could.

My website: www.reexamine.org
by reexaminer ingreetings.. i have started a project that i hope will stay online for times indefinate, even to times indefinate.
you can find it at www.reexamine.org .. i started working on it in october and it is still a work in progress, however because of the shut down of the website located at http://quotes.watchtower.ca i felt that i should release the site in "as-is" condition, instead of waiting until it was completely finished.. currently, there isn't a lot of content in the 'wiki' section of the website.
hopefully in the next few days and weeks that will change, however there are still programming issues that i have to work out before that can happen.

Good web site, Reexaminer--and thanks for putting it together.
I looked at the WT photos you had up, too. I can still remember that awful drawing in the 1958 Paradise book. A picture is worth a 1000 words; which speaks volumes about the Watch-Tower Fear Factor.

How much written in this Forum can be believed?
by Spectrum ini want to turn this forum on its head for this thread.
i'm here on this forum to find as many truths as is possible relating to jwism.
i'm not really here to stick the boot in although once in a while my emotions might get the better of me.

I ask this because some of the posts I read indicate really awful behaviour that I never came across in my 9 years of association with them.
Cyber forums can bring out the best in some folks, and the worst in a few folks. If you've been on-line for any period of time and checked out other sites, I don't believe this forum has "awful behavior" compared to other sites. True, JWs put on a better show at Kingdom Halls, etc., but shunning members who don't buy into every word of The Watchtower goes beyond "awful behavior!" Tearing families and life-long friends apart for the crime of voting or needing a blood transfusion is hopefully something most people won't suffer while on their spiritual path.

Do you still believe in bible prophecy?
by JH indaniel 11:40, talking about the end times and other end time prophecies, do you still believe in them and do you think anyone really can understand them?
-
JAVA
Finding people who believe biblical prophecy is true is a great way to tap into followers of ends-time religions. "The sky is falling," and they need to have their religious hardhats ready. Why would a loving god come up with such a crazy way to guide his/her children?

Does it shock you that there are so few people on this board?
by free2beme ini read once that the witnesses loss between 30,000-50,000 members in the united states alone each year.
i know the numbers for worldwide exits, must be even larger and times that by all the decades of people leaving and you come to a fairly nice size number.
i realize some of these decreases are deaths, losing track of correct totals or a percentage returning right back into the congregation.

I think some who walk away still have a negative impression of former Witnesses.
The "Evil Slaves" and "apostates" are little titles used by the Tower to draw tails and horns on former JWs. It's no wonder some former Witnesses still have that image even when they become former JWs. This so-called loving cult does everything possible to create low self-esteem to anyone disagreeing with The Watchtower. As some have already pointed out, in time many go beyond the Tower Fear Factor and peek out the window.
Many older adults are not computer literate, and it could be the number of older JWs is higher than the norm. However, most younger and middle-aged folks are on-line which has helped many exit cults like the Watchtower. There wasn't much help for former members before the Internet and forums like this. When you add up the number of web groups and folks posting, I think there are more people helped than we think.
As to forums like this being a cyber pub--I agree. An older group called "Philia" used to be called a pub. We invited members to pull up a bar stool and enjoy the chat and drinks.

I am so sorry for your loss. Words can't fully express the emptiness that's felt when a loved one dies. The memory of them keeps them alive in our heart as time helps us to heal. Please know others care and are thinking of you. I'm sorry ........

Do you feel that Jehovah drew you away from Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Scatteredsheep ini just joined this forum and while reading old entries came across the following question from may/05: "do you miss feeling that jehovah was listening to your prayers?
" that question and the responses gave me the courage to ask the above question.
about 3 years ago, 5 publishers, including me, were disfellowshipped after jehovah led us to speak up to our elders regarding their inconsiderate treatment of victims who came to them for help.

Welcome to the two new members that posted on this thread. I don't have a belief in god, but your experience is most interesting. Did all 5 of you get disfellowshipped? As far as you know, what impact did that have on the congregation? Have you stayed together as a group of 5 or did some return to be reinstated (i.e., returning to the scene of the crime)?
Again -- welcome to the group!
