  I couldn't agree more. I guess Falwell's greatest feat was to crown King George W. This world is worse off thanks to fanatics like Falwell who lead the willful blind.

  the door to door work is a sham.. the central activity of the watchtower bible and tract society is not spreading their so-called "messege" about the kingdom of jehovah established in the heavens in 1914. that's a load of propaganda.. the door to door activity is feckless in producing converts.

  in fact, it is an immense failure of mammoth proportions!.

  but, it is a diversion.

  Terry--Good thread; thanks for putting it together! To a large degree the god of the Tower is the Money God. I don't believe it started off that way, but it's all about $$$ today, and has been for many years. The rank-n-file are busy counting hours, and they don't see behind the WT curtain of Power, Control, and Real Estate. The Tower does not spend a dime on helping others--it's all about them. It takes a lot of money to feed the ego of the only true religion.

  It's alway interesting to hear how and why others have exited the Tower. Some find freedom in belief systems others have created, and many (myself included) view religion differently. Asking who's right or wrong does as much good as spitting into the wind, and yet that's the beauty and freedom of forums like this. We can observe, learn, and go wherever our interests take us at a given time. Thanks for posting the link about the CS and Elder. Happy Holidays to everyone!

  I think it was about 10-years ago that I ran into a forum of former JWs called "Jesus-Witnesses." Several of the old timers with their own web sites were part of that group, too. Timothy, Doc Bob, Alan F, Randy, etc.

  MY WITNESS FRIEND DIED

  further to this topic i started a few weeks ago: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/124404/1.ashx i just found out that she died the other night.

  we hadn't been close in a number of years, due to me becoming inactive, but i remember alot of the good times too.

  she was older than me and offered to study with me when i was 14, which led to my getting baptized.. i remember that she tried for several years to get pregnant, and how happy she was when she finally conceived.

  Hi Mary--I'm sorry for your loss. It's great having a friendship like the one you had. Many go through life without ever experiencing this type of togetherness. It's a shame the Tower does what it does to family and friends, but they'll never take away what you had. Again, I'm sorry.

  Great first post on the forum--way to go, Shaoul!

  Recordings like this prove the religion is nothing more than another high-pressure cult. The elders were there for one reason only--to make sure others in the cult treat you as less than human. Your sin was doing what JWs tell others to do with their religion--ask questions and demand answers. Thanks for recording the meeting and sharing.

  me the school because it would allow more time for brow beating in the service meeitng wihch would be one hour.

  then no one would complain about thier kids being up way past thier bed time on school nights..

  There were contribution boxes when I was a kid at book studies too (about 50 years ago).

  How interesting, I don't remember money boxes at book studies, and we had one at our home for awhile (around 1969). I wasn't a JW when I was a kid, so my JW history only goes back 40-years ago.

  I just thought of something you could do with all of that "energy" Lisa spoke about -- visit as many summer assemblies as possible. Oh, never mind, they're already jinxed.
