  Elvis sighting at Long Beach Spanish Convention

  over 5,000 jws were serenaded by an elvis impersonator singing kingdom songs through microphone and amp as they exited the convention.

  it was impossible to get to your car without going within 20 feet from him.

  he would tell passers by to sing along saying, "i know you know the words!

  I'll bet it's the ONLY thing the JWs will remember about the convention 5 minutes after leaving. Sounds like it was the best part of the program, which doesn't set the bar too high.

  Former or Current Elders, MS, Pioneers.......Did you enjoy these positions?

  did you ever enjoy serving in this way or did you view it more as, "it's the thing that's encouraged, so that's what i'll do"?.

  im currently a ms and pioneer(will shed this one immediately) and before i ever were appointed these, i always wanted to.

  i thought it was a pretty cool thing for someone my age to be instructing the congo, and to have so many look up to you.

  I was an elder, pioneer, and helped in circuit work from time to time. Pioneering was a waste of time compared to the results, so I didn’t enjoy it.I did enjoy helping folks in the congregation, and as a rule, enjoyed being of service to others. M any elders were in it for their own glory and used the position as a hammer, as most of us know. That's typical of high-control sects.

  I really thought the JWs had "the Truth," and was part of it. So one could say I made it my own.

  The fact is it was "the Truth" only because that's what we were told, and foolishly followed with JW-blinders in place. I look back at that time and wonder how I ever got caught up in the craziness.

  From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained. I don't have it in front of me, but I think the book came out around 1958. I still remember seeing that lovely picture.

  jehovahs witnesses go to meetings twice a week to train and learn how to manipulate people into questioning their belief and doubting their faith.

  Positive changes in your life since leaving WBTS

  for me it's the friendships i have made with people that would have been considered too wordly to be friends with while i was still a jw.

  leaving behind the guilt of never been good enough or doing enough.

  celebrating the birthday of my precious children making them feel like king and queen for the day.

  A college degree, working with college students, planning for retirement, and placing Tower magazines in the trash when finding them in public places. Life is good.

  Thoughts while mowing the yard

  i was mowing the yard this morning and as usual i was thinking about life and such.

  there were weeds with pretty little flowers and some cherry trees trying to grow.

  i just mowed them down because i like the way grass looks better.

  I think I'm going sort of crazy lately.

  Isn't it fun to let your mind play with the stuff that's part of our history, and in the end, see it for what it is for the first time? "Crazy," I don't think so. Going back to the Kingdom Hall--now that's CRAZY!

  Would you EVENTUALLY be happy in a JW dominated new system?

  many here say that they wouldn't want to live in a world dominated by jw's.

  i understand.. i know that i wasn't always happy under their rules and way of living.

  i don't like going to meetings, especially 5 a week.

  Hey Junction-Guy,

  Are you going to be in Dayton sometime this summer? I would enjoy getting together with you and some of the others for another ex-JW pizza fest.

  BTW, I don't think most of us are poking fun at Falwell's death, but not too sad to see him go.
