I spent 16 days visiting family in Ohio,
They must not have phones in the part of Ohio you were visiting, David--I didn't hear from you while you were visiting. How's the family?
i have been on vacation since july 1st.
i spent 16 days visiting family in ohio, and have only checked in on the board briefly during that time.
has anything major happened in the watchtower world?.

I lived in Dayton from 1958-1965 and 1967-1969.
SandraC--I was a good little JW in Dayton, Ohio from 1965 to the early 1980s. Attended the KH on Cambridge Ave for much of that time. I gave talks in most of the congregations in the area when you were here from 67 to 69.

have you heard about a letter for all congregations announced next new change in wts politics?.
in letter is information that the time for the public talk will be reduced to 30 minutes.. does anyone have a copy?
.
I'm sure the flock will use the extra time on Sunday to go door-to-door--just like the Governing Body does. :)

Are they STARTING to be a little reasonable? It's a step in the right direction.
I've never seen the Tower taking "a step in the right direction." I think it's a way of fooling new ones about the other required meetings. Drag a new one in, show them a lot of attention before a 30-minute program, and they leave thinking--that's not so bad after all. In time they start buying into the WT mindset about "we're the only ones," and the trap is set for the other one hour mind-dead meetings.
Giving 30 minutes now is a great return for the $ociety when they control your life a few months later. A step in the right direction, I think not.
one of the local congregations is having a farewell "concert" for their co who's leaving.
of course, the book study conductor felt obligated to take control by appointing himself screener of all performances before the event (how shocking!
what's wrong with the song as is?
It's hard to believe crap like this was a concern when I was locked in the Tower. The $ociety continues to prove that if you package it right, people will buy baloney.
i was asked to post this by a paranoid jwder.
i'm an elder and have stated as much on this board.
call me paranoid, but i'd rather not stick my head up and say "hey bethel monitors, come after this guy!
Trust me...................they're used to it...............they will go right back to sleep.................
So very true!
well folks, it had to happen, i returned to the kingdom hall.. or at least to its parking lot.. but not to worry my little jwd'ers, my return was in true rollerstyle!.
i had dropped off my mom a few days previous when she made some remarks that steamed me, i had felt she was talking through her teeth, but i now know i could only have been half right.. she calls and rambles a while, then directs me to keep her teeth safe.
after i got the explanation for this cryptic remark from her i go and investigate..... there, on my bathroom counter, next to the tushie-cleanliness paraphernalia, is an unexplained white plastic container which contained my mother's lower plate.. smelled 'minty.'.
Great story, and a fun read--very well done. You get a "G" on everything!
i've had the privelege of meeting purplesofa.
we actually knew each other before knowing we both posted here on jwd of course, being part of the same congregation and living in the same city and all.
how about the rest of you?.
