during the course we got a look at the manuscript of the new unnamed ks01 elders manual, this time instead of just 3 chapters covering jc's there will be 7 covering everything you can think of and more.
the book will be released to all serving travelling overseers and service deck personnel in aug 01 and all elders in dec01 at the kms .. as soon as i receive mine in aug i will download any relevant points.

JEMIMAH,
Thanks for the interesting report. You know, I'll bet it really ticks the Tower when they see posts like yours. Before they can distribute their secrete swill to the rank-n-file, it's up and running on the Internet. Jehovah has surely blessed us.
Fredhall,
It sounds like you're having anyother bad day in the Tower's neighborhood. Thanks for the chuckle anyway. It's always enlightening, and confirms our thoughts about the god you serve, the Watchtower Society. BTW Fred, do the brothers know how much time you spend on the Internet instead of selling Watchtowers?

I am no longer a Ministerial Servant
by cocolocoii inyesterday was announced that i was not longer a ministerial servant.
to be honest i felt really good about it.
i literally was tired of been pretending.

cocolocoii,
I stepped down as an elder many years ago, not long after the Tower's 1975 failure. Like you, it felt good not having to pretend I had special powers because of walking the party line. However, it didn't take long before folks started treating me differently. When a person steps down, that must mean they're spiritually weak, and other such nonsense. I knew I was the same person as before, but the Tower has a spoken and unspoken system of malicious gossip that seeks to destroy any breaking away from the mindless herd. Don't let that get to you--it will happen.
I agree with Joel, find something to fill the void. Volunteer work, developing a hobby, taking a few college classes, repair jobs around the house that could wait until after Armageddon. In time you'll find too many things to fill the void, but until that happens make a conscience effort to do more than be pissed because the so-called love of the greater number cools off. Before long you'll replace the Tower's artificial love with friends that are genuine. Before long you'll have little in common with Witness friends, because without the Watchtower, they have little in their life to share.
Groups like this are very helpful, too. I firmly believe it helps exiting JWs move on with life more successfully than doing it alone.

What was the first thing Adam REALLY said to Eve?
Why don't you have a belly button like the kids?
(Adam's language skills didn't kick in until they had children. Another theory suggests Adam couldn't get a word in for the first few years.)
The mighty Nimrod now seeks shelter . . .

Your Top Ten Books
by GinnyTosken ini love the book lists on amazon; i get lost in them for hours.
recently someone asked me for book recommendations, and i thought it would be fun if we shared our lists of top ten books that helped us think our way out of the jw dogma.
im putting aside the obvious ones, like crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed.. heres my list, in the order i discovered them as best i can recall.. ginny.

Good thread Ginny,
Several of my favorites are already listed, but would like to add two more to the reading list:
Animial Farm, by George Orwell. It's a fictional case study of groups like the Witnesses. A must read for exiting JWs!
Visions of Glory, by Barbara Grizzuti Harrison. It's out of print, but a good read from your local library or used book store dealing with the female perspective on exiting the Witness community.

'Asking' the questions they 'Give' you.....
by LDH inwas anyone else frustrated at the 'question' and 'answer' sessions where they tell you what to ask?.
i didn't realise the foolishness until pointed out to me by my sister, who gets a kick out of being told what question to ask after having read a prescribed paragraph.. lisa

I had the "Watchtower Study" at a few circuit assemblies, which proved the "missing link" isn't missing after all. I don't know if they still put on these fake 30 minute question and answer sessions, but I'm sure the Tower did it to measure the critical-mass stupidity.

Who rules your life?
by shalom intrue story - my aunties husband who is a new jw but not yet baptised wrote a letter to the governing body requesting permission to wear jeans to the meetings because apparently he is allergic to the fibres in wool pants etc.
he got a letter back granting him permission to do this!

shalom,
Does the poor guy raise his hand before going to the bathroom? I think he should get baptised immediately; he's already a Jdub, and doesn't know it!

Indisputable/physical facts
by Norm inin the bizarre world that exist within the watchtower society headquarters in brooklyn you can find all kinds of strange statements.
particularly funny is the use of the expressions indisputable/physical facts.
according to the watchtower from 1922, indisputable facts showed that jesus second presence began in 1874!
-
JAVA
Alan,
Watchtowerites confuse "the physical facts" with "my fertile imagination".
Good one, but I'm not sure how "fertile" the Tower's imagination really is these days with Freddie gone. I think they confuse "the physical facts" with "reincarnation of refried gas."
