Who are we to determine what is right or wrong, what is just or unjust?
"Who are we"..........perhaps the ones that conjured up that bad boy in the first place.
i was raised to be pentacostal.
i hated that religion and their holier than thou attitudes.
so, i went against my mother and listened to the dubs.

i have no idea whether other news organizations have received this communique, and, if so, why they have not chosen to print it.

I wonder what animal the Tower would use when talking about men? Maybe a bull; there seems to be a lot of it in Brooklyn.

"How about being a spiritual person compared to a religious one?"
I think Golf brings an interesting question to the table. Political and religious fundamentalism seems to foster “holier than thou” followers. I think most religious fundamentalist see themselves as “spiritual” as long as they follow the party line; otherwise they’re lost or slaves of the great Satan.
Is it possible to be a “spiritual person” and not necessarily have a religion? Let’s go one step beyond; is it possible to be a “spiritual person” and not necessarily believe in God? I think it depends on one’s personal definition of spiritual.
im constantly amazed at technology, especially the technology that gets adopted and becomes so common we forget how amazing it is.. i think the internet, not just the www, but the mother of all networks with all its facets is the greatest technological advancement of all time.
im not sure if there has ever been anything like it in history.. 1. companies allow data to cross their wan clouds to other networks fairly freely.
this sharing of private resources creates a network that is greater than the sum of its parts.
I agree, the Internet is one of the most remarkable inventions of my time. The Information Highway brings things together in seconds instead of hours, days or weeks. It’s also put a lot of pressure on political groups and religious sects in ways not possible before the WWW. It’s also been very helpful in group formation and support like this forum.
Sure it has been used to harm, but harm can be pointed out like never before.
man jumped from truck following argument.
november 12th, 2005 @ 9:21pm
(ksl news) police now say an argument caused a 21-year-old man to jump from a moving truck in south jordan.
I can just see God saying, "What in the hell were you thinking?"
i pulled that from another topic because it reminded me of something my mother said to me just before i married my husband.
first let me say that my mother doesnt like my husband.
her dislike for my husband has tempered over the years but it's still there.
The Tower has done everything they can to take the fun out of dating, and going beyond that with strong suggestions of what married couples can and should not do in bed. I think many JWs get married so they can have sex, and sadly find out they don’t have much in common after the orgasm.
larc's family-placed obituary is in the sunday, 11/13/05 "dayton daily news.
"thornton, carl leonard 65 of oakwood, oh., passed away mon., nov. 7, 2005. carl retired as a tenured professor of organizational behavior from kettering university (formerly gmi), flint, mi., in 2000, having served there since 1986. from 1978-1986 carl was with the ncr corp., dayton, oh, last serving as director of training/development, engineering & manufacturing group, and was functionally responsible for the educational programs at 16 us manufacturing and 8 international locations of ncr.
from 1976-1978 he served as the executive director of personnel affairs, university of miami, fl.
Carl and Jan dropped by my house about 20-years ago when I was still married to a JW (who had already reported my sin of voting to the elders). We had written back and forth a few times, and they thought it might be helpful to show my spouse that former JWs didn't grow horns and tails. When they arrived at our house, the reported and camera crew were just leaving because I had been interviewed about something in the community. That's the setting of first meeting Carl and Jan together.
They didn't walk in with a book bag filled with anti-JW material, they just dropped by as neighbors to say hi and introduce themselves. It didn't take long before my spouse left the living room and busied herself in the kitchen. She could hang around when the worldly reporter was in our home, but couldn't be neighborly with Carl and Jan.
We soon divorced after a 21-year marriage, and I started taking classes at college. Carl and I would meet at a coffee shop to talk and share information about our JW history and my new status as a single man. About a year later Carl and Jan attended my wedding celebration (I met a woman at the university) nearly16-years ago.
Time has a way of getting away from us and becoming circular. Carl retired from teaching at a college in Flint, MI that's now called Kettering University (it was GMI when he was there). I now teach at a college in Ohio called Kettering College of Medical Arts. From time to time I meet a student or hospital employee who's former JW, and return the favor Carl and Jan did for me many years ago.
Life can be cut short, but the gifts left behind can keep on giving.
Michael
