I'm sorry about your cousin, Ken. It's never easy dealing with death and dying, but something we all face from time to time. I'm 61-years old, and have lost many friends and family, and the older we are, the more we'll experience this. The human condition is something we all share, and experience. Living in the real world means we can love and value others in an honest setting--which includes having friends that you've never seen who care.
Much love to you, Ken.

Upcoming Elders Schooling
by Questions1 init's no secret that the "organization" has increased it's cia, national security clerance only super-secret attitude in regards to the elder school that is going to be conducted soon.
a few days ago, i had a conversation with an elder who has been in the fold all of his life practically.
in keeping with the conversation style of jws, the gentleman told me that nobody knows what exactly will be taught at the meetings, but in his backdoor conversations with some brothers who seem to be tuned into the bethel's officially, unofficial, communications network, the elders are going to be taught "post-armageddon" teachings.

It’s easy to see how “the sky is falling” message plays well with newer members, but I’m amazed how the older followers keep buying the same broken record.
As Gary said some believe their life is better by believing the Tower. However, the fact is they’ve lived a life of lies and have suffered financial and physical hardship by keeping their lives on hold. -

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

So I called the headquarters.
by DT ini've never done this before, but i wanted to be involved with the informal campaign to call the headquarters on or around the first day of each month.
i haven't even spoken to a witness since i da'd.
i had very modest goals for this call.

I enjoyed reading your experience--thanks for posting it. However, I don't think the Tower will use it at their next assembly.

JWs and narcissism
by Hortensia ini've been thinking about this for a while, so was surprised to see another poster start a thread about narcissism just when i was going to do so.
however, his thread isn't really the same as what i had in mind.
i was thinking about the jw belief that jehovah, jesus, all the angels, satan and all the demons and the entire world are watching their entire lives, every single move.

I attended a memorial service at a KH yesterday. The hall was full and most of the JWs were visiting before and after the service just like any other meeting.
I was struck with how little grieving was shown for a member many of them had known for 30 or 40 years. It's all about the organization, and making it look good (when it's not). I saw no tears for the dead sister. How healthy is that? -

For the fist time in 20 years I went back yesterday.
It was for a memorial service, and I wanted to support the ex-JW son. All in all, I'm glad I attended because it reminded me why I could NEVER GO BACK! -

I attended a memorial service at one of the newer KHs yesterday. With no windows and rows of cheap seats, the building felt and looked like a funeral home.
So I'll add Funeral Home Decor to the list. -

Would JW's would crash planes into buildings if the Society said to?
by isnrblog ini asked the three elders who disfelowshipped me this question.. basically, they replied, "the society would never tell them to do that".
thats not my question.
if they told you to, would you?.

I agree with Tatiana, countless lives have already been taken because of the Tower's stand on blood. That only shows some are willing to go all the way if the Tower tells them die or kill.
I also believe you'll find some followers willing to kill in nearly every religion, but not all religions are cults asking such things.
