Well, I can't blame anyone else for the decisions in my life. But, the organization promoted, don't go to college, pioneer right out of high school, which I did. Now, I wish would have went for the extra schooling. And the biggie for me,is not be unevenly yoked with unbelievers. I had planned to be married with children right now. But, big areas of my life were stunted it seems because of being raised a Witness. I have a lot of catching up to do and it's a bit overwhelming really. Besides trying to find my own personal truth and being devastated that all my sacrifices were for nothing!

I had one of the best days I've had in a long time. It was cold and snowy so I declared my own snow day. And went for a walk with my dog in 13 degrees fahrenheit while treading through snowy slush. It was quite invigorating to say the least. And I came in second , if there is such a title, in monopoly. Then, went on-line to my facebook page and saw an old friend that I had added. I haven't talked to her for at least 15 years, because she was disfellowshipped. Well, tonight, I was able to talk on the phone with her for a few minutes. It was really nice and although, I know I won't get those lost years of friendship back, it's always good to be able for now to catch up a bit. I just wanted to share. Hope everyone was able to have a great day, too.

The Gradual Change From Worshiping Jehovah To The Worship Of the Governing Body
by frankiespeakin ini first began my misadventures with jehovah's witnesses in 1972 as a youth(18 years old) and was baptised in that same year.
i was young inexperienced and they caught me at a low point when i was weak and looking for god to solve problems.
being raised as a catholic and going to all the religious indoctrination up to the point of confirmation, i guess you could say i was indoctrinated from birth to believe a certain way which left me vulnerable to the jw propaganda.. fast foreword to the time of my departure in 2001 february.. for a couple of years (late 90s) before i left i started noticing out right lies in the wt publications about their history and the luster that these magazines used to have started to fade rapidly also around that time i really began to notice the gobs and gobs of praise they were bestowing on the organization and the representative members of the so called faithful & discrete slave(gb).

Well, I never paid attention to it before, but every meeting someone is always using the term "faithful slave" and "the society". I don't know if anyone else heard about this or not, but about a year ago our congregation got a letter about turning congregation funds/savings over to the society. It said that they could collect the interest and whenever the congregation needed the funds , they would get the money back. This made me have an icky feeling , even though, I kind of blank out with stuff like that. I really didn't understand how it all worked , but thought it strange. Anyone else's congregation get a letter like that?

Song Book changes - the 'real' reason behind them - EYE OPENING
by EndofMysteries init's very interesting comparing things that are removed.
for one, new world order and new world, new order, all being eliminated from everything.
just research nwo, "new world order", etc, to see.

I was looking through the new song book. And I really don't care for the changes. And some of the better songs they took out. And the ones I can't stand like "House to House" is still there.

Would it be fair to compare JWs to Terrorist Organisations?
by african GB Member in-terrorists are prepared to die for their course,.
-jws are prepared to die for jehovah.. 2 terrorists treat those with different views as enemies,.
2 jws treat 'worldly people' as enemies.. 3 terrorists are brainwashed from a young age,.
-

No, it is a rather extreme comparision. And being raised a Witness, I never thought of worldly people as enemies. And last time I checked noone tried to give me a bomb to put in my service bag.

Question about a funeral for a DF'd person???
by lalaa inif somebody had been df'd for years, showed no interest in coming back and died, would it be okay to go to their funeral if you're still active???
what if a regular pioneer was this individuals' sister in law, would it be okay for them to go?
also, the deceased is having an elder give a talk at the funeral home...one more thing....this person's family is either inactive or df'd...all will be there...this person only has one brother who is still in the truth.. i know it's been years since i've been out of the truth but the last time i checked it was inappropriate to go to a dead df'd person funeral.

I know a sister who's son recently died. He has been disfellowshipped for years. And many from the hall attended the funeral.

Welcome. I can identify with a lot of what you wrote. I'm not quite where you are at, yet, still working things out too. But, again, welcome.
