  with a huge turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce.

  the september 15, 1910 watchtower has russell going on the rampage of how a person "could get by with reading "studies in the scriptures without using the bible, and remain in the "light".

  this same person "who decides to toss books in the trash, by year number two, loose all their light because the bible can't provide light by itself" you needed the "studies in the scriptures" to remain in god's favor, not the holy bible.. .

  can someone please print this article to this op thread, to show the "lurkers" the organization believed the bible was not as valuable as the crazy literature russell and rutherford wrote.

  it's interesting how, in the story, the young man's jw aunt and uncle switch him from mormonism to the jw faith using third-party material (the nov 8, 1995 awake!

  article), and he ends up becoming a jw after confirming on the official mormon website that the claims in the awake!

  My mother passed away this morning...

  for any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.

  she had been in the hospital for a month.

  it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).

  Tatiana - hugs and love and best........it is wonderful that your niece was there for her...and I am sorry that you have a painful history....seems that is an all too common link we all share. Take care of yourself and your own heart first....

  Good one Cedars! I am torn...kinda like the Loch Ness Monster. I really think that there is some ancient creature that swims way beneath the surface and tunnels to that Loch in Scotland. I think that Big Foot Sasquatch....whatever, is really something - but exactly what is the the problem. It really seems that with modern technology it's real nature should be able to be determined.

  Talked to an elder today

  i guess the stars aligned for this one.

  this morning i dropped my car off to get it fixed and the shop i always go to is a lot closer to my mom's house than mine so i asked her if i could stay at her house while it got fixed.

  she was out in service doing returns at the time and offered to ride me to her house.

  wow - quite the story. the ones with their heads stuck in the sand are those who prefer negativity, death, doom and destruction and amazing how judgmental they are.........how does this guy know that "it'll be too late for you"? he's giving you his personal little death sentence which means exactly nothing in reality.

  in the "what does the bible really teach" book, an attempt is made to illustrate the nature of satans challenge, as it explains suffering allowed to prove jehoahs' souvereignty.

  on page 110 is given the illustration of a bright kid stepping up to the blackboard to show the elderly teacher (probably head of the teacher union chapter) * a more elegant way to solve those equations.

  wt equates that situation to satans challenge.

  it's funny how because jesus used illustrations that the ordinary people of his day could relate to, that the group tries to use illustrations and they by and large are so off mark it's ridiculous....two things always made me tune out - first the experiences - so bogus.....and second stupid illustrations.....

  i really hated sitting behind some kid that would exude an abominable cloud of methane... very common -especially little boys for some odd reason.

  my worst was my beloved hubbie, though.....he is a silent deadly type....and he'd let go and i'd be nauseous - and he'd whisper loudly to me to get to the bathroom.............VERY infuriating, but everyone knew it was him - not perfect little me!!!

  oh and in new england it is more like a quack. we shoot ducks in this neck of the woods.

  Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrate Thanksgiving?

  hi guys,.

  being a brit living abroad, i never really understood the whole thanksgiving business.. i think growing up as a jw didn't help either.

  anyway, i've rid myself of those jw shackles and have decided to take an interest into the goings on over the pond, especially as my favourite place on earth is bar harbor.

  and those pilgrims in what was the "new world" to them were here escaping religious persecution because they were quite fanatical zealots. they were thankful to be here away from their tormentors, yet in a very short time they began persecuting others more liberal minded than they. read about some of their tactics and you'll think kh's are pretty damm soft in comparison.

  why no thanksgiving? no mother's day, father's, birthday, no holiday. one holiday a year - the memorial - and what rejoicing and communal spirit does that foster? ahhhh...you get to sit in a kh and listen to the same dialogue you've listened to for how many years you've beem going....and watch the most absurd passing of the "emblems".... real fun occasion....
