bit of background: a couple of years ago i was reproved after i slept with a brother that i was in love with but we were not married.
in fairness, the elders were kind and supportive.
the problem is, i had always been the model witness before that.
Sex is a normal and natural human function. Religion dictating right vs wrong regarding human copulation is simply another way power hungry men endeavor to rule their subjects. You most certainly should not have been made to feel dirty and disgusting, but that mindset likely was drilled into you by the religion.
Work on loving yourself....being the best you can be. Suicide attempt indicates an awful lot of inner turmoil....I do hope you have gotten professional therapy....and keep at it.

a jobo i know has cancer.
her son goes and cleans her house and generally cares for her.
so does another non-jobo relative.. the congregation, interestingly, has shown very little support apart from the odd one rabbiting on about 'bible promises this and that'.. so, the co visited and said, 'but your son is an apostate(tm).

This scene plays out over and over again....elderly incapacitated....unable to be seen at meetings or in service are soon forgotten. That "love among us" supposedly identifying them as the one true religion is utter bullsh!t.
several of the jws i know have recently graduated/incorporated wifi sensitivity into their (self) diagnosis of chemical sensitivity.
they seem to be particularly terrified of the new 5g, with some even believing that it's the new 5g that's causing coronavirus in china.
the fact that even though they maybe able to turn off their own wifi but will still have all the other wifi signals around them doesn't seem to occur to these jws.

at least in our congregation, it was a dramatic event (this is what i can remember from back in the mid-late 60's or early 70's when i was a kid).. at the end of the service meeting, just before singing the final song, the brother would announce, "we have a letter that must be read.
the "congregation servant" (my grandfather or later my father) would then slowly walk from the back of the kh to the platform.
"Conduct unbecoming a Christian"....
Probation was replaced with " reproof" that was announced...but no reasons given. That was all left up to the imaginations and enhanced by the gossips.

I watched about half an hour last night and couldn't stomach anymore. Excellent expose of the cess pool that cult is. I am appalled and revolted that I, thanks to weak minded parents and a bizarre grandparent, was inveigled in this mire....and overwhelmed by it and the anxiety and lack of life skills it caused.
Looking back at it from the perspective presented ...while no surprises...just reinforces what an awful cult it is...insidious too as they love to present that squeaky clean image. What a crock and how sad for those believing the lie.

but oh no in the 1990's this was rebellious he had to call a brother we knew at bethel to see if it was ok. we got his ok to go ahead but at the time i could help thinking about the no beard rule and how controlled and cultish we were..
I recall a man with alopecia who came into the religion...probably in the 70's.....the elders had to meet and question and get input from the higher ups as to the appropriateness of allowing him to go in service ( okay so long as he kept a hat on) and if it was okay for him to sit anywhere but the back row at meetings.....

thirteen years ago you commented on an idea circulating among some jws prior to 1975, that there was a possibility that armageddon survivors might not be able to marry.. "these vows that honor god are used—not from the bible but the only ones sanctioned by the wts.. for as long as we both shall live together on earth according to god's marital arrangement.. when i was in my 20’s, many jws interpreted this to mean that at some point in the 'new system' marriage would end.
since this was shortly before 1975, many jws rushed to get married worried that they would never have the chance (and never have the chance to have sex.
And another lunacy I recall....those who didn't reproduce prior to Armageddon in order to fully pursue kingdom interests, if they were past the age of childbearing on entry to the new world, it would be like Sarah and Abraham....their reproductive powers would be regenerated. But no sex for resurrected ones. Only for survivors and children born to them.... And....perhaps resurrected babies would be raised by childless survivors thus satisfying their parental desires.
But...with former desires "passed away"....(from Isaiah).....the desire for sex could easily be relieved from the survivors psyche, a loving provision no doubt.....
There also were calculations regarding how a gradual roll back resurrection could "logically" occur....with ample accomodations for all...but yes at the comfortable satiety of the planet, population would supposedly remain static. Or......the planetary mass could expand.....allowing further creatures......human and otherwise.
