Are born-ins or are converts most likely to leave?
by Julia Orwell inmaybe born-ins are, because we converts made the choice whereas the born-ins did not.
or are the converts more likely to because of thought patterns developed outside the cult?
i'd like to know what you think..

I really relate with you Tameria and you too Gojira. My mother was mentally ill my whole life, and as a kid growing up you just think its right/normal....you accept it....then you are taught that you are particularly special becuase you are one of the blessed few who have the "truth". I too was an only and childhood was okay in terms of friends outside the cong, but not being able to participate in stuff made me feel left out. For reasons that Gojira mentions - the crash when you realize your entire life has been dictated by a bunch of hooey is mind-boggling....and you don't get over it overnight. The pieces were there, but when you put it all together and have that awakening moment, it is amazing. I still find I have thinking patterns that are warped, and luckily I have a very understanding and loving husband. He was a convert, and looking back, I realize he never bought into it 100%, so fading came easily and very naturally for him. I was more of a die-hard, but in my life I have seen so much hypocrisy and people lording it over one another for absolutely no reason....kangaroo courts....you name it.
I do think that for born-ins leaving is more challenging, and that a lot of people sense the gaps in reality of the religion, but it is all they have and they have banked their entire lives on it, so getting honest and walking out the door is unthinkable for them. For a convert, they have a pre-JW life as a point of reference, so, while it might not be easy to swallow the idea of having been duped, it is a simpler process to bow out.
Kids growing up in the religion are programmed in such a way their self-esteem is battered, so when it comes to leaving, it is hard for them and it is grossly wrong and unfair that teenagers and young adults have to remain stuck because they love and need their parents and know they will lose them if they make a move to the door. Its so pounded in that only your fellow JW's are worthy of your association that some may remain in the group solely out of fear of the unknown.

BROTHERS & SISTERS - READ THE BROCHURE!
by The Searcher injesus always used illustrations to help people reason on the import of what he was saying.
here is an illustration followed by a reality;.
imagine that your heart went out to all those poor people who suffered when fukushima blew up, so much so, that when an internationally renowned charity asked for donations to help those in need, you donated $5000 to the cause.

Watchtower says:You can be Disfellowshiped for being FAT!!!!!
by Witness 007 inwatch 1974 p.167 "by disobediently overindulging in food and making a glutton of himself, he fails to show love for jehovah...is food a big thing in his life?
in the presence of others does he selfishly ignore their needs and take far more than his fair share?
is he grossly overweight?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind......
they may print stuff about gluttony, obesity, etc....but fret not. if they were to really get onto it and start dfing people for that, the numbers at least in the US would suffer such a cut, it would look way bad. fatties, piggies, and people who just happen to carry more adipose tissue for no discernible reason are totally off the hook.

ayiyiyiy....................okay. there is nothing better than to be flat-chested and not have to worry about bras and stuff. but when the honkers grow, if you don't want them down bumping off your hipbones when you are 60 or whatever, you'd better keep them stifled in Vicky's Secrets.

Being honest & fair, can you think of anything that the Watchtower does that's beneficial to the public?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.
reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.
a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.

ldrnomo - HAHAH - too funny!
they are no part of the world - so they determine not to have any influence or presence in it - so really, aside from leaving stadiums cleaner than they found them, the answer is an empty no....

Gilbert & Eunice Kenney - probably late 60's
MAtt & Eva Krzyanowski
Rudy & Jetha Sunal (bio sister of Karl Adams)
Tony DeCinti - hated pets....the sister that had to forego service with him because she had a dying animal to take to the vet....oh the horrors.....
Anthony Conti - the New World .....you look around and you wonder 'where's.....Toooonnnnnyyyy'
there was a Johnson, an African-American....
there was the guy who came across as really dumb and his wife was a total embarrasment because of her extreme pancake makeup and stuff.....
We had JR & Priscilla Brown - I really loved them.....then he got called back to Bethel......he was fun....gave some pretty off-beat scenarios of the future.
Rokos - really super guy. Understood real people - the working class....his wife was in serious need of psychiatric help.
Someone earlier mentioned Dave Crispin....he is a very nice person. His brother John is another story. That man comes across as so nasty.....
Then there was Bob & .....what was her name.....Suiter.....they were young and way cool when I knew them....in the late 70's.
For DO's I recall Samuelson - his wife was Angela - very nice pair. George Condilis from Phillie LOVE LOVE LOVE. Had a Beigler? Ruggles is another name I remember, and I remember back in the 50's Ed Dunlop....yup, the very same.....
Lyle Reusch someone mentioned - remember him.....and someone had a big blurb about Richard Leighton which was very interesting to me. He was a local barber before he left for the circuit work.
One of the last ones before my demise was some wise-arse....this guy was just so obnoxious. he would come in and get up there and make fun of the congregation and people - it was just so unnecessary and immature of him. insulting also.. have a little respect for the peeps dude.

Move Around, Move Around in the Kingdumb Hall
by rebel8 intm, and instead get to know those outside one's clique.
you know, so when the great tribulationtm comes, you will have plenty of friends'tm homes to hide in.. it was one of those things that the bros got so excited over, marveling at how clever their fellow bros are, and how special their religion is to have such a witty and fittingtm little song.. we couldn't wait for the real song to play so we could see which bros would be bold and sing the move around lyrics to it instead.
oh how hilarious that was!
