It never came while I was "in". It is a thought that needs to be shoved aside or put into the back or your mind, reminding yourself of all of the pictures of paradise and picturing yourself there. Only after that illusion was broken did I have that moment.

by dgp inat some point in life, everyone outside of the wtbts realizes that death if a fact of life.
no one gets to accept that fact easily, and the moment when you realize you will die, too, usually comes all of a sudden and takes you by surprise.
when you were a jw, did you have such a moment, even though the society told you you would never die?

Cautious Newcomer
by undertheradar ini am still a member of the jw's organization.
i have been puzzled over some of the teachings for many years but as i seemed to be the only one querying things among my local jw's i felt as if i was going crazy.
i was very relieved to find this site, a few months ago, full of evidence to back up my findings, and so much more.. i am so grateful to you all.. i do not want to leave the organization until i have planted some seeds in my family to open their eyes.

that none of this is unsupported lies!.
and to think that a month or so ago, i thought the only dirt on them might have been being a little to harsh on shunning.. i feel sick.

I love The Pre-Programmed response, and its ugly sibling the Badly Botched WT Illustration. An example of this would be when my MIL was trying to explain why people die to her non-JW siblings. They just couldn't figure out why they were like unplugged oscillating fans. My wife and I just watched, shaking our heads. Just another example of how the WTS strips one's ability to think and reason!

I feel your pain! You can conduct research, reason on matters, learn the truth about the truth, make sure of things, pray, whatever... when family learns of your doubts, all bets are off. Your MIL sounds a lot like my mom. She and my MIL have gotten together to gang up on me, to shame and guilt me back into the organization. Defininite boundaries will need to be set by you for your MIL's conduct.
It's sad that we have to treat them as though they are misbehaving children, isn't it?
Hang in there, and continue to take the high road!

southlake four people died saturday after their car flipped over into a six-foot-deep pond in southlake, police said.. just before 11:20 a.m. saturday, the toyota sedan drove through the intersection of lonesome dove road and burney lane, crashed into a metal fence, hit a tree, and landed upside-down in a pond on the grounds of a mansion.. "they came through this stop sign and, from eyewitness accounts, they never slowed down," said neighbor byron copeland.. copeland said the residents of the property raced to try and help.
