It's not me I'm worried about. It's my kids. I dutifully indoctrinated them to the best of my ability.

How can you test whether you have broken free of the mind control
by cantleave init's been less than a year but i think i am nearly there.. i can read through a mag or sit through a meeting and instantly see through the bs.. i can watch the news without thinking is this a part of the composite sign.. i see people for what they are without trying to pigoen hole them.. i'm not worried what the elders think.. however,.
i still show too much interest if i see something about a jw in the media.. i notice kingdom hall if driving through a new place.. i still want to stop and say hello if i see a group of witnesses on the street.. how do you guys and gals measure the progress of your exit from the cult?.

LAST NIGHT..!
by iknowall558 ini finally went out on a 'ministry' work.
with a bit of help, i took all of my anti witness leaflets and put them through the doors of as many witnesses as i could in a 2hour time period.
it was the easiest and most exhilirating thing i've ever done.

Wow, I would have been horrified, angry, and somewhat curious to find an apostate tract on my car, back in the day...

TONS of changes in the organization
by EndofMysteries innew songbook - removing all the old teachings and anything saying new world or new order.
no more bookstudies - (so no small indepedent comments, only brief congregationwide so not much discussion).
bible reading talk can 'read' only, no introduction or conclusion - again not allowing any input or thought.

There are two trends here: making a JWs life generally easier, and tightening the control. Probably they're related to each other.
I am morbidly fascinated with where it's all going. I think I'm getting my family out not a moment too soon!

To Ex-JWs: Do You Regret Learning it Was a Lie?

A very good question. As I am still in the exit process, things are very overwhelming right now. I think that it is very worth it. I am still young with a young family and hopefully have a long, long time to realize the benefits of choosing this course. Staying in would definitely be the path of least resistance for me. But it's not right.

Richard Dawkins forum

it seems as though a large number of xjws post there.
there are some really good and thought provoking points made, from a slightly different perspective.. just wondering!.

Scotsman - your opinion on Dawkins sums up the way many feel about him. I personally enjoy his writing style - it is very engaging. I think that the rise in popular culture of a figure such as Dawkins is an unfortunate necessity in light of the breathtaking level of ignorance about basic science, especially biology. His public persona seems to reflect a high level of annoyance at this ignorance.Could he stand to turn down the "arrogance level"? Of course he could.
In any case, there is a lot of good information at the forums, if anyone gets the time to check it out. There are also many former JWs with very interesting things to say.

Could you give a link to a good thread from over there?
Well, here is a thread that hits fairly close to home. It is interesting to read the reactions of various individuals to this person's story.

freewilly01 - I haven't read the God Delusion yet, but his popular scientific books are great. I am leaning heavily towards atheism, but I really don't want to be labeled as anything right now. Atheism is not a stance that I currently take; it just reflects my current non-belief in god. If that makes any sense.
cry - he is quite eloquent, I am sure that it must have been a pleasure to speak with him.
RubaDub - lol, I had forgotten about that Dawson guy! Too funny...
