In your experience how many DFd return to the WTS?
by teel infrom the 11/15/09 wt study article: "it is heartwarming to know that a large number of such ones [disfellowshipped ones] later return to jehovah and his congregation...".
this is a typical cult phrase, where they use a generic unverifiable statement to prove a point.
so, since we're not likely to get an official answer from the wt, how many of the dfd ones in your vicinity has actually been reinstated?.

I got engaged this weekend!
by feenx ini popped the question and got a yes!
i have to say, it's a bit surreal.
being raised a jw, being out now for 7 years and gradually adjusting to "normal" life.

Slightly weird mess-up by the Society...service meeting part
by sir82 inif there's one thing the society loves, it is punctuality and regularity.. every year for at least the past 30 years, without fail, you could set your atomic clock by it, what is the primary topic of the 1st service meeting in january?.
you find out where and when your district convention will be that year.. so, looking at the december km, sure enough, there is an insert covering the usual topics (don't save seats, arrive on time, spit out your gum, don't pee in the hotel pool, etc.)..
but wait a minute!

It still used to crack me up that they had to TELL the friends NOT TO COOK IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM! -hahahaha. But I swear, inevitably, there was that ghetto family that didn't give a rats, and they were frying chicken on a hot plate in their room...having the whole hallway smelling like a southern cookout! -hahahahaha.
Oh...and all that talk about wearing your badge at all times - even OFF the convention premises. Really? So we're all supposed to be humble and NOT draw attention to ourselves, yet wear our badges and suits/dresses for 24hrs and DRAW people to quesiton us about our attire and our nametags? Am I missing something?????????????????

Do any of your friends worry you will go back?
by creativhoney inhello all.. in thes spirit of another thread i read where the boyfriend was badgering our poster about the religion saying he wanted her to forget it and not go back... do you have friends that worry?
my best friend is always asking me... do you think you will go back?.
do you think its because when we were in we so vehemently proclaimed we believed it?

I'm guessing you're alluding to MY post about my bf and his 'disregard' for JWS?
Besides him though, it's not my non-JW friends that ask...but the few JW ones that Im still associated with that CONTINUE to ask! There are 3 of them, and they will talk to me 'on the low', and hang out with (out of town) - but inevitably, they start asking me when I'm coming back...or lay down comment of "I wish you would just get reinstated so we could hang out!" When they say that it makes me doubt my decision NOT to go back at times because I miss my girls, I hate 'hiding' and not being able to freely spend time with my friends in public like NORMAL people.
Then I remember WHAT happened to me and HOW the elders treated me and I go back to normal on my own! -hahahaha

Saw it in the theatre and then WAITED for it on DVD - which I bought the day it came out!!! Love the score "Hi my name is Lincoln" that plays at the end when all the zygotes are set free and running away....cool movie.

Did you ever feel being a JW was like ...
by sacolton inhaving a license to be a complete douchebag to others?
it did for me.
i could automatically judge and condemn those who i didn't know and feel superior towards "worldly" people.. .
-
babygirl30
I truly feel BAD for how I used to judge people...but being raised in the org, I really believed that I was BETTER then them because I had 'knowledge and hope'. Seems so petty now, looking back. People that I looked down on, shunned, refused to hang around or even get to know (non JW family included) all because I really thought I was above them.

Giving *deserving ones* Jehovahs *undeserved kindness*
by OnTheWayOut ina youtuber, 21crosscheck21, has an excellent point.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jlsfmbtt7e.
the kingdom ministry, december 1993, page 7 says:.
"we want to give *deserving ones* the opportunity to learn of jehovahs *undeserved kindness* and the kingdom hope.".

There was a talk the C.O. gave about 3yrs ago about the difference between "undeserved kindness" and "mercy" ... don't remember the specifics any longer, but I DO recall that he tried to break it down and explain that they are NOT the same?

I hate that it gets to me!!
by Newborn injust back from lunch and met two different former good friends from my congregation (i live in a small town) and they, of course, turned their backs on me... and it makes me feel strange and bad even though they're the ones who should really feel bad.... how can i learn to ignore it??.
makes me both sad and angry at the same time.
grrrr.

brainwashed-from-birth
That is the SAME thing my family has told me repeatedly...I have been told over and over NOT to tell people about them shunning me and me being DF'd. My mother is passionate about NOBODY 'speaking badly about Jehovah's org' and she was accusing me of being soooo far in the world. Why? All because I told her that I have no problem telling folks that my parents choose NOT to have dealings with me because I am no longer a JW. That's not a lie...I'm not exaggerating the truth either - THAT is the point blank reason.
I agree wholeheartedly with what you said - if JWs are so passionate about their religion (aka - lifestyle) then WHY not speak up about it? Why NOT be proud that you dismiss people completely out of the cong and out of your life? They are right...people DON'T understand why JWs do what they do...because it doesn't make SENSE!!!
