Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings
by LittleSister intoday i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.
prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.
he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

2010 Circuit Assembly..........Sunday Program nonsense and madness.
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini went to the sunday circuit assembly and came back all riled up with all the nonsense.. the sunday program was on ''safeguarding your spirituality''.
''it is better to remain single and not marry.
that gives you more time for studying and the preaching work.

HAHAHAHA! Not TOO hard...I'm eating chinese and squeezing me MAY not bring out the best! -hahahaha
Seriously though, education and JWs is a sore spot for me. I had EVERY opportunity to go to college, but because I was SO afraid to let my parents down and get DF'd for going AWAY to school, I let the decision be made FOR me. I regret that now, and wish I had just gone ahead and did what I wanted to do....

not sure yet They are not baptized, because we wanted them to choose after they go through 'life' and are well-educated adults.
I respect you SO much for that! Personally, I think THAT is what would make JWs a little less 'shady' - allowing ADULT children to make a decision on their own. Being raised in the org, kids are kept separate and secluded, so they have NO idea what to expect or how to do a damn thing in the world. But if after going to college, getting an education, or at least having SOME type of life experience - THEN they are qualified to decide to be a JW or not. What the heck does a kid know?

we are very very selfish and have some one else spent money on education so we can enjoy Doctors,Dentists, eyes specialists, engineers. The WBTS like those Lawyers, new advances high speed presses, computer engineers.
Now THAT is what always confused me...everyone was up my BUTT about 'going to Bethel' and being a temp worker (such a privilege???) because I am a computer GEEK and wanted to go to school for that. I was a gifted honors student from middle school all the way till I graduated, was in Honor Society, took all AP course (except for math) at my PARENTS urging - yet even the THOUGHT of college was a 'no-no'!!! I mean, why PUSH so hard for your kid to excel at schoolwork when in the end, it means nothing!! No company says in an interview "Oh, I see you got all A's in high school and were gifted/honors' - do they? -hahahahahaha. My father insisted I take the SATs, I aced a mandatory state test that had college letters AND the army recruiters knocking at my door every month - offering to pay for my entire college education if I would go for some kind of computer engineering job with them!!!! All the colleges I applied to (behind my parents back) I was accepted to - and when I took that 'idea' to my parents, they immediately sent me on a tour of Bethel to see the MEPS system. The brother talked to me for the longest time about how I could come up there, work on this program, pioneer, blah blah blah. So I asked him, "do you have a comp degree?" and he said "OH well yes...I went to MIT". OOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKK....so I'm supposed to leave my ghetto-ass high school, jump RIGHT up here to Bethel, work on a million dollar computer system with NO formal education? Really? I left there upset more then glad for the experience. Headquarters is FULL of dr's, lawyers, engineers, computer designers, chefs, hairdressers, dentists, etc - they didn't WALK in the door with no education. did they??? So it's ok for THEM to benefit from an education - but the rest of us can't?
What did I end up doing? Going to community college. And now? Well, the economy now calls for "4yr degree" as a BASIC requirement for entry level jobs...so it's TOUGH out there. All I have to fall back on is my experience, my 'fine' ass looks (hahahahah - just being silly), and street smarts. Nobody CARES that I was smart in high school, nobody cares that I went to community college. I resent how the org makes college look like the 'big bad wolf' that is going to EAT you up if you go...cause it makes these dingbat kids THINK that a diploma is enough! To do basic manual labor, yes a diploma is ok. But if you want a career (not just a job) then a degree is MANDATORY!!!

Were you totally petrified to question the teaching of the dubs?
by MsDucky ini look back now and think what the hell was wrong with me?
it's just so crazy to be so blind.
everytime, i'd think that this or that wasn't quite right, i'd think i was committing blasphemy.. it's sad to know that's why many people are still stuck in that religion..

I used to feel the SAME WAY (believed I could affect the flow of the holy spirit in the congregation) and it freaked me out!!! Honestly thought that if I did anything WRONG that it was ME that was single-handedly bringing the cong down and was preventing Jehovah's spirit from coming through the doors!!! HAHAHAHAHA...little did I know all that MESS that was going on in my cong had nothing to do with me, and that MY situation was actually 'tame' to a lot of the crap some elders kids, pioneers, and MS's were doing!!!!

Many JWs have become masters at Emotional Blackmail. I'm sorry to hear this.
AMEN! All JWs are technically trained to do this...to abuse the 1 core emotion given to us as human beings - LOVE! If the (love bombing doesn't work) 'we miss you at the mtgs', and then the (manipulation doesn't work) 'there's a lot you've missed. maybe you should come to the mtgs regularly again?', THEN they stoop to flat out emotional blackmail "really miss you and wish you would come back to mtgs - Armaggedon is coming and your LIFE depends on it!"
UGH!

What Do Jehovah's Witnesses Stand For?
by minimus ini know what they don't stand for.. they do not celebrate holidays, believe in getting involved with the "world", vote, take blood transfusions......well, that's not really so.. if a christian (jw) wife was told by her "unbelieving" (non-jw) husband to help decorate the home for christmas, she could do it!
if he wanted her to go to a christmas work party, she could attend.. a jw has to be totally separated from this world.
politics is a no-no.

They are the first to stand in line for food..
HELL yeah!! I used to go to the DA in Philly...down in the HOOD area. You should've seen how some of these JWs would act standing in line for the last spicey chicken breast at Popeyes?! -hahahaha. I mean, you would've thought chicken was being BANNED the way they would push and yell at the order takers...pretty sad.

There is even a brochure that is posted on all KH announcement boards that shows what is APPROPRIATE 'dress' for mtgs and Bethel visits and what isn't....yes - it has specific pics showing examples of what they deem 'inappropriate'.
JWs can't celebrate holidays nor birthdays - but they consider 'the Memorial' a holiday they honor every year AND have problems celebrating Anniversaries, which technically is the birthday of your marriage!!

Don't buy anything at the meat market or yard sales or else you could turn out like me?
by dissed ini don't know how this happened and how they met, but a relative, a jw elder and my old po talked about us leaving the wts.
(he said this to my wife).
they reasoned, how could someone, who was a pioneer, bethelite, worked at the rbc, district and circuit level, taught at the pioneer school, helped dozens to baptism, suddenly and inexplicably, leave jehovah's organization?.

My dad said that to me when I was attempting to 'defend' my decision NOT to return to the org! He told me that I needed to read Cof C and ask myself WHY a Bethelite and Member of the Gov Body would LEAVE the org and write a book about it???? I just LAUGHED cause I 'get it' now, i see how a person can be wrapped up in a religion for years and not see the real deal - like I was. Its takes a 'situation' for the blinders to come off...
