  JW changes over time

  as many of you know, i am 63, and left the religion about 40 years ago.

  i was raised in it and would like to explain what it was like compared to today.

  first of all, back in the mid to late 40's the patriotism of the u.s. was very high and the treatment at the door was very harsh.

  As a young pup, I don't have anything to add to this, but I sure enjoyed reading it.

  Since things clearly are not the same today for Jehovah's Witnesses, I wonder what would happen if it were possible to do the following:

  1. Bring back to life those who died as faithful Jehovah's Witnesses during the 1940-1960 era. Especially those who died due to a Jehovah's Witness policy, whether it has since changed or not.

  2. Show them how the Society works today. Not the front put on for Jehovah's Witnesses and potential Jehovah's Witnesses, but how it really is. (eg. drinking at the society, legalistic rules, changes in "light" etc.)

  3. Give them the opportunity to decide if they still want to be a part of it, without the fear of being damned by Jehovah.

  It makes me wonder if they would still want to die a faithful Jehovah's Witness. Just something I have been thinking about.

  i remember being a jw lad (about 10 or 11 years old).

  i would be at the circuit assembly and, at around 10:45 am, about 8 brothers would get up, walk slowly up the aisle, glancing at each row of their "section", their lips quivering as they silently count each person, trying to maintain focus as nearly each jw makes eye contact them (even though everyone knew what the attendants were doing!

  did i want to grow up to be the president of the united states?

  Simon, one of these days if you truely feel like mimicing the January 1 Watchtower, you could break down everybody by where they claim to live and the amout of posts by each county they claim to live in and then give the average per poster in each country. Then you can really bore us!

  Umm, let's see. The Russians would have ratted the U.S. out if it was not true. One of the 1300 people who worked at NASA would have said something if it was faked. Not to mention the 18 astronaughts who went to or around the moon would surely have had something by now. Sounds like somebody walked on the moon to me. All the so-called facts as to why man did not walk on the moon can be explained scientifically if you take the time to do some reading. The problem with many today is they fly off half-cocked looking for conspiricies where there is none.

  We did it, we got out!

  we moved out of my parents house last week.

  this was so difficult since im df'd and they were only talking to me since we were living with them.

  of course i was prepared for what was coming, the yelling, talking, and especially the guilt trip.

  when i was a jw there were a few sisters i knew who had serious weight problems.

  i now have a couple of friends who are obese.

  i have a weight problem also (about 40 pounds over my best weight).. i was out with my girlfriend today.

  Glad to see the subject being talked about. I know many people who battle weight problems. I myself am over weight and so is my wife, but neither of us really care to do much about it. Both of us are happy with ourselves and attracted to each other and that is what matters most to us.

  Wasa, you are probably talking about Greatest Man chapters 42 or 48. Mark 3:31-35 or Mark 6:1-4. It is assumed that Mary and his Half-Brothers are not quite convinced by the way Mark 3 reads. Just trying to help, but I prefer staying out of this one.
