my wife is still a loyal dub, and i allow her to take my son (13 years) and daughters (9 & 11) to the meetings, assemblies and on the service.
i cannot talk to her about her beliefs because, well, she refuses to talk about them.
she knows that i no longer believe, but not much in the way of detail.
I wish you were my father. If my dad had done that for me, I may have hated it when it happened, but in the long run you did the right thing. Not getting a good education is the worst thing he could do. Ask him, does he really want to be a janitor or have some other low paying job? Keep doing all that you can to bring up your children right!

I just logged on, and I saw your post. Now I will look for the others too. To answer your question, let me tell you about myself. My dad died last year, and I don't believe it was an accident. I think he might have taken his life. My only reason is he told me how he might die if he took his life. I took him to counceling. A month later, he died exactly as he said he would. I don't believe it was coinsidental. I think under his circumstances God might forgive him, but I am not certain of it. I can just hope that He might. God is much more forgiving than us, and that is all I am certain of.

I am glad you decided to join us. My name is Jeremy, I live in Kansas. My dad died last year in a car wreck, so we have that in common. My dad was also a control freak, like yours. He was never baptised as a Jehovah's Witness, but he made me go there anyway. My mom left him and remarried just before he died. She left for similar reasons as did your mom. I was in the religion (cult) for 5 years before I got smart. I hope we can become friends! If you get the opportunity, read my post-leaving Jehovah's Witnesses. I agree with gsark. Personal radios with headphones is a great way to go especially at conventions. They broadcast the convention on AM radio. Meanwhile you can be listening to something better.

i flat out asked the jw i'm studying with what she would do if someone was disfellowshipped and she was honest and said she wouldn't talk to them since they wouldn't be good examples of jehovah witness.
then we started talking about appearances and tattoos, and about my pink hair :) and she said it didn't matter.
