  some may remember me (possibly not).

  i am a former elder of 10 years, all my family are still in ?the truth?

  and all the males are elders in various levels of responsibility.

  Seriously though, I don't know a thing about Hedgehogs, but if the idea is hedgehogs get single minded and the fox has the ability to pick and choose, then sure the Watchtower can be considered that way. Sure the Watchtower Society believes they are right and always right and even if they are wrong, New Light will make them right. So based on New Light, the Old Light was right at that moment, but the New Light is righter than the less right Old Light.

  My question for consideration is; If the Watchtower is like a hedgehog and single minded, what religious orginization is like a fox? Are they not all hedgehogs?

  This is a hit-and-run for certain.

  According to Watchtower, Jehovah is running the show through Jesus. And the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class gets it's direction from Jesus.

  A Decision On DAing.

  although they treated me like shit, made me feel like a worm, they are not going to get anything that they want.

  i really really want to da myself, but, that is the end of it.

  I feel much like you on this. I wrote a letter, and then kept it to read for myself. Then I threw it away. Why? Much like you, I don't want to give Watchtower the satisfaction of giving them what I want. I also don't want to burn any bridges. Just in case there is another here in my area that knows me, I want them to feel like they can talk to me to find out why I am never at the meetings. See, you could be just what another person needs to hear to leave the cult too. And finally, if I ever wanted to go to a meeting to dig up some dirt, I am still just an "inactive" JW.

  However, I for those who choose to officially DA, I certainly understand. Just in my opinion that letter does not give a person any more freedom than just going inactive and doing what you want to do. I guess it is just for mental health only. However, for the Watchtower that letter is exactly what they need to help them keep the members they have. When Joe and Jane JW know they should never talk to you, they won't.

  i had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.

  it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.

  she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.

  Good luck with the next meeting.

  She confessed to me that her own experience with bungling elders, who did nothing to reprove or admonish her husband when he mistreated and abandoned her, has been a real trial to her. This is what I've come to understand in roundabout discussions, but the first time she's ever said this clearly.

  What a shock that the "good ol' boys" didn't do anything to help her with that man. Let me guess, she can't remarry, and still be a member (that is if she ever wanted to) because that would be adultery. How loving.

  When I was a JW, I loved hearing the "good experiences" at the conventions. It ranked number two behind the dramas. (Come to think of it those were the only things I liked about the parts on the conventions.)

  Now that I am on the other side I love the reading about good experiences here. Your's is one of the best. Thanks for uplifting me!

  I think it is a mistake if the Watchtower is again telling their followers to stop all internet sites, because "Jehovah's Channel" already. There are already many very good sites tearing down Watchtower theology and the more supporting their theology the better for them. Although, I hope the Watchtower Corp. is telling their followers to stop all internet activity, because it is just one less way for their message to get out.

  Go ahead Watchtower Corp. and stop all outside communication with the outside. The sooner you do the quicker your cult goes away.

  i really hope to get a ton of responses for this topic, so even if you're just browsing through postings and topics, please add your two cents...however brief.

  i am really curious to know who our "heroes" are, those people we admire, identify with, emulate and recieve inspiration from.

  feel free to even list former heroes and perhaps why you were taken with admiration for them at that point in your life and maybe why you don't feel that way any longer.

  Wearing his old KU letter jacket, NBA great Wilt Chamberlain shook hands all around after his Kansas jersey was retired in a halftime ceremony at Allen Fieldhouse Saturday. Chamberlain then provided commentary for the second half and signed autographs for fans after the game.
