  In the last 20 years we've seen some amazing changes...

  District Conventions went from 4 days to 3 days in length

  The two circuit assemblies per year went to one and a special day assembly

  One page tracts replaced the small Watchtower sized booklets

  All books, including the Bible, are paperback now

  Fewer new books, (The Revelation Grand Climax is how old now?)

  Monthly Awakes replaced bi-monthly Awakes

  And now Watchtower has a monthly "public" magazine and a monthly "JW eyes only" magazine

  What does all this have in common? Money!

  I agree, the next to go will be the Kingdom Ministry. It's not a big cost savings, when compared to other cost savings measures, but I expect the Service Meeting to focus on some special article in Watchtower instead of leafing through the Kingdom Ministry.

  Ridiculous teenager counselled at Assembly.

  the ridiculous teenager is me.

  this story takes me back to 1969, when i was 15 years old.

  we were attending the international assembly at wembley stadium, near london, the only time, i think, that wembley was ever used for an assembly.. if youve ever read any of the stories i posted on jwd over the years, youll know that i was never one of those kids growing up in the truth who always had doubts about it or was unhappy and miserable with the religion, just waiting for the chance to get out.

  Am I crazy or did one of the two youth books council about asking one's parents how to wash one's naughty places to avoid stimulating them?

  I distinctly remember the part about how some youths, "get lonely in their sex-play" and that leads to circle jerking and homosexuality.

  Ah, the logic in that one... I wonder who came up with that jewel.

  more "odds and ends".

  i liked lyman swingle (governing body member)......he knew when to curse at the right time.

  i think, thats why i went to him, when i was having so much trouble with debbie's parents.......he seemed "cool" and down to earth.............he might have been bit of a racist though.. one time a self righteous (known as sr) new boy, went to him and complained about what he heard in the bindery..........."brother swingle" the kid said "i heard some brothers cursing, in the bindery!

  my best friend and his wife had hired an elder to do some refinishing work in their basement.

  they kept their tv and vhs tapes (pre dvd era) down there.

  it seems dear brother was a bit of a nosy fella, so he just happened to pop in one of their home movies of a trip they had taken to cuba and found some footage of my friend smoking a cigar.

  I heard of a JW woman who refused host the Bookstudy at the couple's home because she got tired of the "friends" going through her bathroom cabinets. Privacy is apparently not sacred when it comes to finking in the name of Jehovah.

  i have to give her credit that at least she is willing to discuss the misgivings i have with the wts.

  up to this point i have not.

  openly stated my disbelief in the jw theology and thinks some of my attitude is just the libertarian streak in me.

  They admit they are imperfect men who do imperfect things. Because of this imperfection, shouldn't JWs submit to Jehovah and not to the "slave?" A true follower of Jehovah should answer, "I report directly to Jehovah's enthroned King (Jesus), not to men."
