Sorry to hear you are alone tonight. Christmas isn't much fun without having people to share it with. Our family doesn't make a big deal over Christmas. Our budget for Christmas is small, under $150, but we agree it should be that way. Next year, I expect Christmas will have just as tight of a budget, perhaps more things will be made than bought.

How big of a deal is Christmas to you?
by JH init's christmas eve and i feel like any other day of the year.
i might drink a beer or two or might go to bed at 9pm like any other day.. to me, the days that lead up to christmas is way more exciting than the actual day.. maybe i feel this way because i'm alone..... .

My recent experience at the KH
by oneairhead injust thought i would share my recent experience at the kingdumb hall with all of you.
while sitting there during the meeting i thought to myself "wow not many here today.
" (i haven't been to a meeting in about a year.

I agree with Billy, that was a set-up for love bombing. "It sure is nice to see so many here today." That is code words for, "I expect to see you again at the next meeting."
Think of it this way, the US totals are up a whopping 1%. That was you today! In a Kingdom Hall of 60 people, you almost caused almost a 2% growth! NOW STOP IT!

Four years late. Just watched Passions of the Christ. I have a question
by shopaholic inas you know this movie was banned for jws.
any faithful witness would not watched a non-jw bible movie (even though they do it all the time but that's a different subject.
) i watched it this pass week over a couple of days.

Regarding the so-called "banned" movies, the only movie I can think of that could be considered banned was "Basic Instinct" because a Watchtower article actually mentioned the movie without actually saying the movie's title. Funny how many Elders and other JWs knew exactly what movie the Watchtower was talking about.
Regarding the Cross versus Pole, exactly, nothing more than trying to look more righteous than the next religious group.

Maybe some of you Bible-bashers just like to see pictures, oh ye of little faith.
http://www.pacinst.com/route/redsea.htm
ProdigalSonProdigalSon, sending me to a site that has a chariot wheel on the bottom of the Red Sea proves nothing. Here is a picture of a car on the bottom of Lake Rawlings. Does this prove God parted Lake Rawlings so this car could be driven across the bottom? http://www.flickr.com/photos/34892885@N00/376708312/

NWT translation of Daniel 1:2 and 607
by behemot indo you know why the nwt starts verse 2 of daniel ch.
1 with the words "in time..." which are not in the original hebrew text nor in any of the english translations i checked?.
has it to do with supporting their 607 b.c.e.

How's it going Scholar? I can't believe you still post here after being so thoroughly pounded by AlanF in the 607 debate last year.

why is it better to "fade"?
by ruined ini've been reading various posts and i notice that fading is often advised by others who have done so or wish they had done so.
why is this better than being df'd?
i'm assuming it's because your family will not shun you if you are merely da'd ?
-

Fade? Why not just abruptly stop going? Why waste time with going every now and then if you know you are wasting your time?
It is better to just quit than to fade, write a DA letter and if they want to DF, let them. I am not going to some pretend court and I am not wasting my time by either fading or writing a letter.

I have a theory. Please take my poll!
by changeling ini'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.

1- Were you raised a witness or not?
2-If you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?
3- Where do you stand on religion now? Christian, pagan, atheist/agnostic, undecided...
1. Yes
2. Not so much, but my mom was a pioneer for a couple of years before going inactive
3. Buddhism seems interesting, but undecided

If all their livestock was killed by the plagues, what did they have left to give the Hebrews?
And again, if their livestock was dead or taken by the Hebrews, what did the Egyptian Army use to draw their chariots?
Oh wait, this guy probably still had his donkey...

what is supposedly resurrected at resurrection?
by iblowmynoseatyou inthis is an idea that really freaked me out when i was still "in".
i asked it several times in groups of friends, and i would get two reactions: confusion/not understanding, and silence/looking at the ground.
if you die, and your body disinegrates, and the soul doesnt live on; in fact, nothing lives on, then what is resurrected?

:what is supposedly resurrected at resurrection?
Why do we need to speculate? Wasn't the faithful men of old resurrected in 1925 and are now living in San Diego? Just ask them!
