this is and always has been one of my biggest gripes: assembly parts/experiences.
not 1....ever......e-v-e-r was even remotely relatable to me.
now i have traveled all over the place (and to other countries) and i have sat amongst rich and poor jws, suburbanites and urbanites, siddity folks and straight 'hood'.....and not 1 assembly experience made me sit up in my seat and say "wow - that's just like me!".
this past summer DC a middle aged couple spoke about how they both lost their jobs.
Interviewer:"so what did you do?"
Couple:"We decided to pioneer!"
Lots of applause from the middle class in attendence while I picked my Jaw off the floor.
Oh, dont't worry, before leaving the stage and right after his closing comments he mentioned "Brother" finally got a new job.
Maybe they are like several pioneers where i grew up, living off food stamps to pioneer, what a wonderful example.

i just came home from picking up my youngest son and heard my next door neighbor say that.
this morning i thought i had seen a pair of jws walk by my door twice and i think they left something at her door.

this is perfect religion with imperfect people.
the elders are imperfect that is why there are problems.
we just need to endure because jehovah is allowing this as a test to see if we will still love him.
My wife hit me with all of this just this morning. The conversation did not go as I had hoped.

i have tried to debate evolution/ark a couple of times with witnesses.
two of these were elders, and one had the benefit of conversing with me over mail; he also showed an interest and knowledge on some scientific subjects that told me he had studied it a bit by himself.
Yes, indeed I was thinking that the FDS was 'dumbing down' things to make it easier for some to understand. I thought some arguments are not entirely convincing, but the more convincing arguments would be too hard for some.
They have to dumb it down, because the more you think about it, the less sense it makes. It is hard to understand because most of it is not true, you can't argue with conjecture.
so last night i'm chatting with my wife about some things i had read on this site, when she dropped a bomb on me.
see we have been attempting new non-jw friendships, to make our fade a little more bearable (in her case since she has so many jw friends).
i have been trying to do this for her and told of a few i've found here, and on facebook.

today i noticed my personal website was hacked again.
over the last year my site has been hacked by several different worms that try to infect your web browser when you view my site.. these hacks are all the result of poor security measures and a gross lack of applying security patches to the hosting server.. today i had enough and emailed my hosting company to let them know that, once again, my site was hacked.

I have used Hostgator for 4 years now and I am happy with their service.
i used to look at the old stuff as info that the witnesses were progressively understanding.
i didn't hold it against the witnesses if they changed understandings because after all the 'light was getting brighter and brighter".. as time went on, it did start effecting me.
there were too many things i'd let slide by when i was younger that i just couldn't ignore any longer.
I didn't while I was younger, but as I got older I couldn't accept it anymore. I couldn't accept that "truth" could change, for a long time I just ignored it, but eventually I had to start looking, and here I am.
if you were a leader of a small group that should survive a worldwide disaster and will be left on their own, not being able to use now common services would you:.
a) encourage your members to learn all possible skills and to get all possible today available education, maybe even organized "who will learn what" to cover really every aspect of future life and to be really prepared ..... or.
b) discurage your members from education, letting them just sit home or at meetings and keep repeating: "the end is comming, the end is comming ... be ready, the end is comming...".
